The line started building from 2:45 on, and within minutes, it seems, thousands of people were in a line snaking around the corner from the XL Center -- formerly the Hartford Civic Center -- down Church Street, along Ann and down to Asylum.

A mix of more than 15,000 faithful and the curious gathered to hear the senator from Illinois, Barack Obama.

Today's program is scheduled was scheduled to start at 5:30. Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and three Democratic congressmen from Connecticut: John Larson, Rosa DeLauro and Chris Murphy were also scheduled to attend.

Apparently the updated numbers show this event brought 17000 people to the XL Center.

2. "and 635 empty seats"?
Where'd that come from? Not the article, because I read the whole thing.

5. Where does it say that?
And even if it's true, how do you know all those seats were available, not blocked by equip, torn out for refurbishing, or something else?

What's your motivation for putting that unnecessary, unverifiable little tidbit in there, hmmm?

6. Did you see Herman's latest post about the Meadowlands?
:)

I checked Wikipedia for the capacity of the XL Center.

10. Wikipedia disagrees with the XL Center's home page.
No I didn't see any post about the Meadowlands. You didn't answer my question.

And I don't appreciate your attitude. Go read my previous posts in this thread. It's not that hard.

If you don't want to look back a page or two, then too bad.

And go read Wikipedia again.

19. Munster is already on my ignore list.
That's why I didn't see his post. I get the gist now and it appears that we are actually on the same team. Context is everything.

GD-P (Goddamned-Politics) police, here. :hi:

Booo!= Bullshit, trolly, flamebait thread.

Hurray!= Fair, reasoned, informational or truly inquisitive thread.

I never thought I'd be nostalgic for the 2004 fistfights.

ETA: The police may have fucked up on this one.

Extra edit: And the post was edited.

like Obama..and, I wanted to know why? :)

As long as we have to have the GD-P, I'm glad it's you, rummy! :hi:

Kerry, Clark, Dean, and Edwards supporters were...well, we were cream puffs compared to 2008. I'm totally cyber friends with all the Kerrys, and some of the Clarkies this time around! Funny ol' world, ain't it? :hippie:

13. I was just there
There were a few empty seats along the top of the arena. There was also a large crowd standing on the floor. In other words, the place was full! Huge line to get in but well worth the wait, a fantastic speech and event!
