"An all-American family?" - no Mary Matalin didn't just say that!
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 08:56 AM by EffieBlack
On Morning Joe, Mary Matalin was giving a list of reasons why people should vote for Romney over McCain. She listed his executive experience, etc., and then she said "He's new. He's fresh. He's got what all Americans want in the White House - an all American family."

You can't tell me that she didn't mean this as a swipe at John McCain's adopted daughter who is from Bangladesh. Mary Matalin was a critical part of the Bush team that consistently smeared McCain in South Carolina in 2000, claiming he had an "illegitimate black child." She's obviously engaging in the same tactics today.

I'm certainly no fan of McCain, but this is really low.

I strongly urge DUers to contact the program about these kind of racist tactics. It is completely unacceptable, no matter at whom it's directed

2. James Carville should give his wife a good ol'-fashioned spankin'!
Except he probably gave her the line to begin with.

3. It's a tryout for their attacks on Obama if he gets the nomination

But they're going to have a hard time getting away with it . . .

First, I can't imagine Obama quietly turning the other cheek if anyone even THINKS about going after his family.

Second, how much more all-American can you get than this?

5. So, you're saying a 'black american family'
represents america, better than a 'white american family'?

7. I'm not saying that at all -
And I can't imagine how you could possibly think I was.

6. that third picture, where he is on the floor listening to his daughter-

i have seen a surprising number of photos of him like this- not standing above his kids, but really engaging them on their level. we see the same thing in his interactions with adults. it is sad that this is striking to me- but yet another indication of character that I like about O-

4. One reason Dems lose is we so often understimate the things Repubs are willing to say
and do.

Or we overestimate their decency, looked at from another perspective.
