Every year since the GOP took over GA my polling place has changed.
Every damn year. This time, I wasn't even notified.

Luckily, the church I voted at last time posted the address of the new polling place.

I entered the address into my iPhone and now I'm in line.

2. Double check your vote!
We use Diebold in my voting place in north ATL and it registered incorrectly when I voted in 2004. Check and be sure in the summary that your vote registered as you wish. The GOP machines do their own thing!

4. Mitt Romney!?
Kidding.

A Romney sign sprang up on my way into work this morning. In the most affluent neighborhood I pass through, of course.

6. Romney has three types of supporters: Rich bastards, Rush Limbaugh knuckle-draggers, and Mormons.

3. Same here
I'm sure it doesn't help that we have a GOP Secretary of State now. I can't even hear the name Karen Handel without wanting to :puke:.

7. Karen lives in my neighborhood and I've known her for yrs
Actually she is very nice personally, BUT..... she is a lady on the move and is an opportunist. She wanted to do sooo much for Fulton County and stayed in office as Chairman of the FCty Commissioners for only a very very short time until there was an opening as Sect of State. I expect Governor or Congressperson from our district will be next. I would never vote for her because she is totally opposite from what I believe in and I know a vote for her as a 'friend' is just helping to put another ultra-conservative in public office.

9. Sorry, I hope you didn't take offense at what I said.
I'm sure in person she's very pleasant and personable. I find that a lot of right-wing religious conservatives can be very pleasant if you get to know them on a personal level, although you may disagree on a lot of things. I actually come from a family of people just like that--they're all very nice in person, but they would all vote a jar of mayonnaise into office if it had an (R) after its name on the ballot.

I just remember when she was running for SOS in 2006 and I saw her campaign website. Listed among her "issues" was the typical right-wing "right to life" and "sanctity of marriage" crap. I couldn't help but think, "Ummm...you're not running for any kind of legislative or judicial role, so what does your opinion on abortion have to do with your ability to be an effective SOS?" It just smacked of pandering to me, to bring get the support of the fundie vote that was no doubt turning out to reelect Perdue. And I found it disgusting.

Again, no offense intended...and no offense taken, I hope. :hi:

10. Absolutely no offense taken!
In fact I totally agree with you on all counts. She is 'nice', but is a politician spouting what will get her elected and smiles at everyone the same way. This is an area populated with business/corporate people and she is no more a fundie than any of them. She's not even native to this area, but moved here for a rather big position in business. She had previously worked for Marilyn Quayle of all people and then worked for Sonny Perdue. Then she made her move to Fulton Cty Commissioners and then SOS. Karen could go with whatever it took to win an election, I assure you. She and hubby are quite sophisticated and run with the country club crowd, not the fundie crowd. I stay away from that and a friendship such as hers because I can't be anything but what I am and it makes me sick to hear these people talk.

Today when voting my husband got the "You're voting for a Muslim?!" routine from his 'friends'.

5. Who determines the voting locations? Who makes up the panel that approves that decision?
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 11:00 AM by LiberalFighter
Are the voters in your voting location primarily Democrats or Republicans?

Is your voting location the only one that changes each year? Primarily Democratic locations or others?

What does your County Party Chair have to say about this? Are there any state laws that they are violating?

Does the newspaper publish the the voting locations? If not, why not? Are the reporters lazy? Does the county have a website with voting locations posted?

Does the voting location consist of one precinct or more that vote there? Have the boundaries changed each year?
