Poll question: If Obama wins it proves to me anyone can become President...
is the same really true for Hillary Clinton?

23. Both of our nominees are "barrier breakers" and are to be
celebrated in their own right.

As much as I don't like Clinton personally, I think breaking the "glass ceiling" for women would be great.

However, considering a lot of other factors surrounding her candidacy, I'm not sure that extrapolates into any girl or woman could become president.

I didn't vote in my own poll here.

But for those who "get the question" I'm curious as to what the consensus is.

17. No, you have to pay first and have a start by your name.
There's a long winded reason I ask this question. As we all know, our two candidates are breaking barriers. That's great. It goes back to what can we tell our children.

The notion that "anyone can be President" is currently false. If I were to tell my children that, I'd be lying.

However, I think Obama as President would dispel that.

Maybe Clinton, as a woman, would too.

That's why I ask the question. It's just a poll.

20. People understand the poll like this: "Can Hillary Something Good?"
This is why your poll numbers are like this.

25. I'm happy with the response to my poll, a fair number have responded
and the result is fairly split.

7. Anyone who's RICH and CONNECTED can become President.
An Obama Presidency will not bring you the bang for your buck that you hope it will.

You can mark my words - I'll go on record. Better than Bush, but far short of what it needs to be.

And fyi, Bill Clinton came from the very bottom to become President.

Obama's family were not poor.

24. Every time I see someone use the "Freerepublic" card, I know
it's just using demagoguery and labelling to avoid actually doing the work to prove a point.

It's weak and lazy.

22. Bill did. Actually Bill and Obama share some similar life story qualities.
And as far as I know Obama had pockets of his childhood on food stamps, at least that's what he says. So I think there's more to the story than you know.

a link that shows I'm not making it up:

http://www.redorbit.com/news/general/1234703/obama_visits_grandparents_hometown_in_kansas/index.html

snip

"...He said his grandfather's benefits from the G.I. bill that sent a generation of veterans to college, and his working mother's short-term reliance on food stamps made it possible for him and his sister to prosper."

____________________________________________________________________________________

He's never said he "grew up" on foodstamps but inferred that he and his mother had to temporarily rely on them.

So there you go, fwiw.

15. Actually, the saying goes...Truman proved anyone can become President....
...Eisenhower proved that we didn't need one.

And George Bush proved that the election can be stolen - and he did it twice.
