I find tidbits like this, absolutely thrilling:
and not because most of those votes will probably go to Obama, but because I think the repuke party is terribly tarnished in the eyes of the majority of Americans.

Telling signs in Illinois

In 2000, wealthy Chicago-area DuPage County chose Bush over Gore 55-42. In 2004, it selected Bush 54-45, which was actually progress since the rest of the country shifted about three points in Bush's favor, so a net loss of about four points for Republicans as compared to the nation at large.

And today?

One potential sign of a sizable wave in Democratic voting in the state came from what has long been a Republican bastion in Illinois: DuPage County. Election officials said more than 15,500 early ballots had been cast with a majority of them—about 8,500—Democratic.

1. What took them so long? Bush had to completely destroy every part
of the world he touched for stupid ill-read people to conclude that he was a fraud & a liar all along.
Too bad they didn't read DU about 8 years ago.
Now if we can just get those voting machines to work.

2. I'm from there
That's the district that Tammy Duckworth nearly won. For her to come within a few percentage points was a miricle in itself. It's been a Republican stronghold for as long as I can remember.

It took a while but it looks like DuPage County is being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. :bounce:

3. repubs on the run
Telling indeed.

People still have their allegiances, but I think the time is right to reach out to centrists, which is precisely why I feel that Clinton's "us vs. them" mentality will be so off-putting to people who are interested in joining the party.
