Do you guys think a Dem Prez will rectify problems like these?
I heard on the radio last night that some "committee" had reported that our National Monuments were still vulnerable to terrorist attack. It cited the Statue of Liberty which has FEWER guards and a SMALLER budget than BEFORE 9/11!

I also read where the budget had been slashed to the FAA and air traffic controllers were taking early retirement or just plain quitting because they were being stretched beyond their limits, and that their equipment was practically obsolete because of budget cuts!

This is occurring in EVERY SECTOR of government.

They keep banging the drum on terror, but nothing is being accomplished.

With a Dem in office - do you think we have a chance to begin to rectify all the damage the R's have wrought?

Please reassure me.

6. The concern about taxes is valid with the situation as it is -- the prices,
joblessness, etc. But I'm hopeful if we withdraw from Iraq, we can start putting our money back into these programs.

If the cost of living wasn't so high, and the job and housing futures weren't so scary, I don't think we'd mind an increased tax -- if we could AFFORD it, which we can't now.

And even now, the R's keep harping on "tax cuts" -- are they fucking nuts?

8. Unfortunately it seems like there is a strong contingent
that is always anti tax increase. If the economy were stronger, you're right that they might not be as hellbent on defeating increases. But with the amazing shrinking consumer buying power. It will be a much more difficult sell right now.

3. I think your operative words are "to begin to rectify", It is going to
take decades to fix this mess not the least because of the ecomonic mess *ss has gotten us into.

4. Someone's got to do it and the Republicans will only cause more harm.
It will take decades to clean up after King George, but to have a positive outcome you have to have a beginning. Either Obama or Clinton are far and away better than anyone the Republicans have to offer.

5. Yes - I fear that many of us are hoping for an almost immediate "cure" for
all the crap that's going on. The destruction is systemic - it'll take a LOT and a long time to get to where we, as America, want to be.

The world's longest journey begins with a single step....
