Terry "Mr. Optimistic" McAuliffe: "We will have more delegates than we had going into today."
Now that's confidence, Terry! Says on the record he had "nothing to do with the '08 calendar," as well.

McAuliffe: All about the delegates

If somebody could just set up a Ustream feed and follow Terry McAuliffe around with a little camera, I could take some time off, but in the meantime, more from the Clinton campaign chairman on MSNBC, where he was asked about California:

MITCHELL: Popular vote? The popular vote in California?

MCAULIFFE: You're taking states. What I care about delegates. We will have more delegates than we had going into today. This is about winning delegates and onward we go. I'm excited but I'm always excited

Also, from yesterday, don't blame Terry for this mess:

RUSSERT: Terry McAuliffe is Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee several years ago.

MCAULIFFE: That's right. Thank you. I had nothing to do with the '08 calendar.

RUSSERT: Nothing to do with the '08 calendar, for the record.

MCAULIFFE: For the record.

1. McAuliffe represents everything bad about ther Democratic Party.
Totally appropriate that he is Hillary's shill.

Time to get rid of him.

3. He is one of the items on my
"why I won't caucus for Clinton" list. (I also have a "why I won't caucus for Obama list" - I'm going uncommited tonight.)

2. I personally feel that Terry missed his calling in life. My guess is that he's
a genuinely decent soul and very likely a terrific dad to his kids.

But when he steps into his role as (former) Chair and (current) observer of the political landscape, he becomes an errand boy, someone the teacher asks to deliver a written message down to the principal's office because she knows it will get there without being lost and without the kid catching a smoke in the restroom on the way back.
