Question, re: mass voting rules.
I went over to my precinct table and they found my name and as I looked, I noticed that my name was bolded with the letters "ID" next to it. I was the only one on the page like that.

And I had to show my license.

Does anyone know why?

4. I've never had to show ID in MA...
Either in Western or Eastern MA. And it doesn't mean Independent, b/c that's called Undeclared here and indicated with a "U"

7. I'm pretty sure it stands for Identification. But why I had to, I do not know.

5. First time you voted there?
I used to live in MA, and I was never asked, though, even the first time. It did occur to me someone could just have shown up stating my address and by the time I got there, my vote would be taken. But you know, that kind of thing doesn't happen: we're lucky to get people to vote once, not twice.

Here's something though: when I was moving from MA to another state, I went to the Town Hall and "de-registered," because I was going to register in my new state. Months later, my daughter, still living in the area, went to our old precinct to vote. She said our names were still on the list at our old address. Yeeks ... I even went to the trouble to have my name removed and they didn't do it.
