yeah I know it doesn't matter and it won't count but I can't stand either of the 2 coronated "leaders" and I have no illusions that America is anywhere close to actually electing a black man or a woman.

1. Now, if everybody else acted the same way because they were afraid
that no one is going to elect a black man or a woman, then we would never elect a black man or a woman. Self-fulfilling prophecy.

and was afraid to support progressives, we'd never elect a progressive as President. Oh wait....

20. He's in OK
which has a 15% threshold, statewide for some delegates, and a 15% threshold in each Congressional District for others. JE is pretty unlikely to hit 15% in either, but he could do it in one or two CDs. Maybe.

19. Wake me up when you decide to support
a candidate who believes in REAL universal health care, or fair trade vs corporate trade, or really wants to limit the suicidal spiral of U.S. militarism.

Obama is "progressive" like war is peace.

8. Well, it looks like either the black or the woman is going to win the Presidency--
why? Because people, right now, today, are voting for them. Millions, across the country.

15. Not really
All it means is that a black man or a woman will be the nominee, and that's all it says. Winning the general is another story.

I feel the only reason Edwards left the race was because of pressure from the dem party to get out and let "history" take over. History is great, but for me it was always about taking the whitehouse back, and I think Edwards was the best shot at that. Now maybe one of them will win, I hope so, but I have serious doubts.

I would love to see a woman president, or a black man, but these two are not the right ones. Hillary will not divide this country just like Bush did if she won, and Obama is all talk, and no action. Like I said, I hope if the win I am wrong, but ony time will tell.

33. Like the scout told Custer, Victory is right over that hill General.
Anyone that thinks their just going to walk to the White House is totally naive. There are attack groups with hundreds of millions of dollars just waiting to pounce. And they don't require the truth to be told, they'll make shit up. Isn't that the mistake of 2004?

17. There you go again Cali
Playing the gender and race card. What you just can't understand is that many of us don't see anything in these two worth voting for in the primaries. Who cares when they will both give us the same thing, more goverenment for corporate american, and more crap for the rest of the country.

6. Good show.
If JE gets 15% in your CD or statewide he'll still get a delegate, who can then go to Denver and join the other Edwards and Uncommitted delegates in affecting Party policy.

You did a good thing and it may even be more than symbolic, depending on your district. (Unlikely though)

10. I voted today also
And it was for John Edwards. My vote won't be counted till "next" Tuesday, I vote by mail.

The reasons was simple. The other two are the same to me, no real difference that would make make me pick one over the other. The both have problems taking money from special interest groups, and they have a problem with taking money from people like Rezko. They both seem to vote pretty much the same, and I think they are both backed by corporate america, so to me they are the same.

I voted for Edwards because I want "real" change, and maybe if they see that people still want Edwards, they will go more towards his ideas, slim chance I know, but I can hope!

14. I voted for Dean in '04 after he'd conceded. I am still glad I did.
John Edwards changed the debate. I'm glad he did not automatically endorse. It would have cheapened what he stood for. I just wish he was still in the debating and I'm for Obama. Edwards kept the other two moving leftward.

Anyway, I like you karlrschneider.

25. I don't think I'm being cynical, I'm just reporting on the mood of the electorate.
As it happens, I have not met one single person here in this area, of either party, who would consider voting for
Obama. If reporting that piece of fact means I'm a racist, something bad has happened to our language.

28. Well, I'm certainly not implying you're racist, for what it's worth
I'm sorry if others are. I haven't read the rest of your thread.

Truthfully, I go back and forth between feeling cynical and pessimistic myself....for me it's related to the whether or not the entire election process is fraudulent. I'm deeply concerned about the credibility of the voting machines. They've been proven to be easily hacked, they run on proprietary software....it seems fairly obvious the entire system is due for an overhaul, imo. I believe ALL federal elections shoule be held on paper ballots that can easily be re-counted, if necessary. It's not rocket science, people, but it seems evident that there are "larger forces" at play here, hence my cynicism.

On the other hand, in my heart of hearts, I am an optimist and I choose to believe in a better world where Justice, Freedom, Equality and all those other great qualities we Dems like to fight for can actually happen.

I like to live in Possibility and not get too sucked into Fear about what can go wrong. Easier said, than done, sometimes...but there you have it. :D

39. I can only say that having seen and watched John Edwards
speak to us - or for us - for the past 5 years, he really is my preference.

He is real - he does not waiver in the face of adversity or anger - he speaks to the questions that matter most to each of us.

I asked him to tell me if he would denounce Bush's signing statements if he took the office of President and his response was:

Not only will I, on the first day I am in office (if elected), renounce those signging statements, I will make my administration the most transparent in the history of this country.

How can I not back this?

I would be a fool.
