The problem with novelty is it wears off.

I'm thinking he has the big MO on his side, and I'm not JUST talkin' about Missouri.

22. Right. But the fact that Obama is tied after the super-frontloaded primary schedule ...
... is amazing, given the advantage it (intentionally!) gives to the name recognition candidate. (Terry McAuliffe designed it that way for 2004.)

Now that he's withstood this punch, and had a 3-to-1 fundraising advantage in January, he's in a great position to start building a delegate lead. But he better brace for a tough next round.

8. That was said before
right after N.H.

funny thing that.

Obama was only going to ever win Iowa, because you know those people there are just kooks.

Then, after S.C. the story changed to "Obama only appeals to black people".

And now we're back to "novelty" candidate? Really?

9. They've both peaked
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 12:48 AM by CreekDog
Now they have to do the really hard work of snagging a decisive portion of each other's voters.

For Hillary, it will have to be done by her inspiring people.

For Obama, it will be by showing mastery of the issues and some level of detail.

In the end we will end up with a candidate better than the two of them are right now.

That's a good thing folks, let's go with it.

17. I strongly doubt that Obama has peaked -- indeed 'll continue rising until & unless a MAJOR reversal
Without such a major reversal, by the end of Feb Obama will be clearly recognized overall as the odds-on favorite (which he really is already, including at InTrade).

The key races now are in PA, Ohio, TX (probably to HRC), WI, OR -- while there are other states like LA, VA, NC, VT, and WA already likely to go to Obama. Obama wins even if he splits evenly on delegates in the "key" states TOTAL.

18. You make a good point, and what's more
Whether or not Obama's surge carried him past Clinton is not the only measure of what he achieved.

He still surged significantly.

The real test will be whether his support rallies and surges again, or just flattens out and dissipates.

That is the test Dean failed in 2004.

23. ROTFLMAO!!
Lets see...Obama won more states, has more delegates, has way more money and is favored in the next six or so primary's/caucuses.

Yeah he "stalled" alright.:sarcasm: :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hillary has the lifelong dem/old folks/older women/hispanics lock up while Obama is drawing all the youth vote, 80 percent of the black vote and the vast majority of independents.

IOW Obama is building a new dem party for the future while Hillary is stuck in the past.

We'll see who's MO is stalled after Hillary runs out of money and Obama wins the next six primary's!!

ROTFLMAO!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

30. Lifelong Dem Here
and I won't be choosing Hillary Clinton in the primary (next week for us!) I'm a middle aged woman too...but I'm so done with the Clintons. Talk about the novelty wearing off! The oldety's even more worn. We've seen everything they can do and have done and, unless they've been taking violin lessons or salsa dancing or something, everything they will do. There are no more rabbits in Clinton's top hat and the Republican hecklers in the crowd have a jeer for every sleight of hand she knows how to do.

Dropping the metaphor...let her remain in the Senate where her gifts are better suited to the job.
