20. By "coming" you mean "seceding," right?
I'm still hoping the Texans will simply secede. I think they'd make a fine buffer state between the U.S. and Mexico.

15. It is not racism if the Hispanic vote is tiny until Texas.. It is a fact.
It is a demofraphic element and it is an undeniable portion of Hillary's coalition

You can't pull them out of her wins in the Southwest and California. You shouoldn't it part of of her coalition and the third that ws Obama's is part of his.

But if you look at the Potomac Primaary, the demographic is no there for either candidate.

Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 01:33 AM by Harvey Korman
were largely due to black voters, who are an "undeniable portion of his coalition."

You're doing the same thing.

The fact is, NO ONE should be downplaying the importance and the legitimate preferences of an entire group of people just to spin a primary result, EVER.

And BTW, who said the Latino vote was "tiny" in Texas? :wtf:

9. Whoa! Hispanics are a factor in California
I understand now about 34% of the general electorate. This has huge implications for the relative struggle for economic resources, scarce jobs and political power, as between African-Americans and Hispanics.

Right now, if Hillary's margin holds up in California (there are ZERO results from Alameda County yet, and only 8% from Los Angeles), Hispanics will be a crucial reason why, and a major constituency for Hillary in November.

Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 01:31 AM by sfexpat2000
someone who has tried to track election fraud.

The weekend after 2004, the talking heads kept saying that Latinos gave Bush the edge. That they came out for him in much bigger numbers than in 2000. That turned out to be bullsh!t but it was never corrected in the corporate media. In fact, Bush did LESS well in 2004.

Latinos are motivated this time out but we don't know what is happening yet. We don't have the data. But that doesn't deter the media from saying it over and over and over just like they did in 2004.

61. None in Wisconsin?
I grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin. If you weren't German or Italian then you were Hispanic. In kindergarten in the late seventies we spent time every week learning a bit of Spanish since the population was considered to be so large for the area. One of my best friends was half Irish, half Hispanic and the other was half Italian half Hispanic. And I have family throughout the area who have married into Hispanic family, as have quite a number of old classmates.

There is a bigger group there than you'd ever guess.

31. My main issue with all of this is what Clinton's Pollster said.
I think I wouldn't be bothered by latinos voting for the Clintons if I wasn't told during Nevada stuff that Latinos WONT vote for a Black man by a Clinton pollster. That offended me and brought about awareness. Then CNN hammered away at this point during a debate in which a latino man said he wont vote for Barack. He couldn't explain why, no reason or nothing which the reporter was giving him time to explain he just said he wont. Thats when my heart sank and I felt slapped in the face as a black person. Being Black History Month I realize that its now the Latinos who are the ones with the issues against black people.

At this point while I don't have any problems with Latinos I think that currently I don't care for "their" issues. I do feel as if Latinos are treated way better in terms of immigration than....Haitians which truly isn't fair.

The Clinton campaign has been promoting the idea that Latinos won't vote for Obama just as they promoted the idea that he was a "black" candidate. Don't fall for it.
