Clinton and Obama Trading Victories; McCain Holds Edge Over G.O.P. Rivals
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton won her adopted state of New York and neighboring New Jersey, while Senator Barack Obama claimed his home state of Illinois and won in Georgia, Alabama and Delaware as the two Democratic candidates traded victories in a coast-to-coast contest for convention delegates.

Mrs. Clinton also scored victories in Tennessee, Oklahoma and Massachusetts, despite the endorsements of Mr. Obama by Massachusetts Senators Edward M. Kennedy and John F. Kerry and popular African-American Democratic governor, Deval Patrick. The Clinton campaign, called Massachusetts as an “upset” victory in an e-mail statement Tuesday night, noting the endorsements for Mr. Obama, who — as well as Mrs. Clinton — campaigned there on Monday.
