Another scripted Clinton caller on Rachel Maddow's show last night
Another night, another breathless pro-Clinton caller reading the same talking points: Ted Kennedy is the most divisive figure in the Democratic party, John Kerry and the DNC conspired against Howard Dean in 04, Maureen Dowd, Arianna Huffington, blah blah blah, ready from day one, blah blah, no difference between voting records, blah

Why are we seeing all of these Hillary supporters calling in to liberal talk shows reading from the same script? Could these possibly be innocent, independent thinkers who just happen to write down the same talking points in the same order? Did they all just happen to adopt the same tactic of spewing their talking points in a continuous stream until the host has to cut them off?

I'm waiting for a host to ask one of these callers who is paying them and training them to spin, but so far these liberal radio hosts have been too polite to call bullshit on them.

So I'll do it here.

1. Stephanie Miller got one yesterday, so did Randi and so on
I dont know who to blame, but they are the same (or similarly motivated). They could be OP's from nearly anywhere. I also noticed that they seemed to be very angry about something. They yell and shout over the host just like a rw hater/disruptor.

5. And I'll ask you, too -- what were Stephanie's and Randi's responses?
I'll listen to Randi today to make sure I don't miss another one of these.

They can't think the audience falls for that tactic?

2. Was it you that posted about this before?
Whoever it was said that s/he heard two calls, and one of the hosts said "don't call here to read your talking points" - or something like that.

I'd love it if everyone would call them on it.

Did Rachel have any response?

It's getting exceedingly creepy. I was actually cringing listening to the woman last night. She really sounded desperate.

Edit: Sam Seder was sitting in for Rachel last night. He let the woman spew and then had to cut her off.

16. The OP is shocked by the fact that many Hillary supporters actually know their candidate.

18. Yet more BS spin
These people use the SAME WORDS in the SAME ORDER spewed out in the EXACT SAME STYLE. They were clearly coached.

If your candidate needs to create fake callers to support her, she is not worth consideration.

20. There is no such thing as a "fake caller". Advocates have varing degrees of skill
in delivering a message.

3. They have every right to call in and speak up for their candidate.
Talk radio does kind of depend on folks calling in.

12. They should at least be honest about the fact that they're paid shills
I really wish the talk show hosts would call them on this bullshit.

15. It's called evidence. I've heard these folks too often for it to be coincidence
They may not be paid, but they are certainly coordinated. If Mark Penn or Terry McAuliffe call in, we know where they stand. But having someone pretend to be an independent caller and then read from the same script is a Rovian tactic. We don't need that shit in our party.

6. Like Kerry had pull with McAuliffe and Clintons didn't. heheh they really believe Dem voters
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 01:02 PM by blm
are dumb enough to believe their bullshit just as Bush believes his voters are dumb enough to believe his.

Historian Douglas Brinkley NOTED the backstabbing of Kerry throughout 2003-4 by Clintons and their pet McAuliffe in April 2004:

And Woodward WITNESSED Carville's sabotage of Dem voters in Ohio on election night:

22. Edwards sat down with McAuliffe after 2004 accepting the spin would be against Kerry
for all blame.

TeamClinton manipulated Edwards to set himself against Kerry. It was Kerry they didn't want to be on a debate stage with Hillary.

Edwards COULS have taken the route that he and Kerry were right in 2004 and Bush proves they were right every day. But instead he followed McAuliffe's cue as if everything that did go wrong was all Kerry's fault.

Edwards never expected Kerry's endorsement because he knew his role in the McAuliffe driven spin.

10. Ironically, I agree with them on the Kennedy point
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 01:20 PM by jgraz
I was a young Carter supporter when Kennedy ran against him in 1980. He let his own ego undermine the party and paved the way for Reagan. I'm still pissed about that.

19. I was listening to John Puke Gibson (I know gross)
the day before NH and he had a suspicious caller call in hitting all of the Hillary talking points. He grilled her and she admitted that she happened to work for a media firm...but ..cough...cough...denied that she was involved with the Hillary campaign. Gibson said later that one of the tech guys thinks she called in on an earlier call to give the same exact talking points.
