Assuming Hillary and Barack are neck-and-neck in delegate counts at the convention,
Howard Dean and John Edwards will get to play kingmakers.

Edwards with his delegates.

Dean by ruling whether or not Florida and Michigan delegates get seated.

1. superdelegates remain the key
Hillary has a lot of people in her corner from being around for so long. Payback for a lot of political favors.

4. My OP assumes superdelegates are included in the neck-and-neck numbers.

8. Then your post is 100% accurate
I guess my point is that there's a lot that's going to happen between now and then. August seems like a long ways away.

9. Thank you. And I agree. It's still early. Primaries extend into June.

10. CNN's David Gergen also agrees
"For the first time it becomes possible that neither Hillary Clinton nor Obama will go into a convention with enough votes to win. They may be short."

This is going to be wild. For political junkies like us this is about as exciting a time as it gets.

5. I think for 2012 and beyond, the DNC will have to change rules
about the superdelegates - i.e., dissolve the concept of superdelegates and go with the popular choice.

Also, DNC will have to ask the media (which I'm sure I'll be laughed at) to give every candidate EQUAL TIME, otherwise they will be banned from participating in the political process.....

7. Why can't I start a thread about anything
without attracting one or more posts by someone named "Ignored"?

Oh... that's right...

I must have 200 people on "Ignore" by now.
