If anything at all, for 2012 and beyond, what *WOULD* you like to see changed for the DNC?

2. Regional primaries
within two weeks of each other.

No candidates dropping out-not allowed--OR weighted voting where people have a first pick, but if they don't get a certain percentage, their vote goes to their second choice.

No super delegates.

3. Regional Primaries scheduled randomly every cycle.
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 03:16 PM by Oregone
Regions of 5 to 10 states voting every 10 days or so. Have the first region start with 1 state, then 2 at once, then the rest (these cases also chosen randomly amongst the group. After the entry region (which takes 3 dates), all the states vote at once on their day. Something along those lines. After a number of elections, every region and state becomes important and would be campaigned in.

With this schedule, each date a week apart, and a 10 state region, it would be

Week 1 (entry state of first region)
Week 2 (secondary states of first region)
Week 3 (rest of first region)
Week 4 (region 2)
Week 5 (region 3)
Week 6 (region 4)
Week 7 (region 5)

Then in 2 months, were done for good, or so. No more superdelegates, period.

4. I'd definitely go with regional primaries, maybe with the top tier
of states getting their own individual primary day (i.e. California, Texas, New York should all get a separate date). Run the primaries at two week intervals from January though May. Spread them around to give people a chance to think. Select the order by lottery.

For example

January
New York

Upper Midwest

February
Texas

Southeast
March
New England

California
April

Midwest

Mountain States

May
South West

Oregon, Washington, Idaho

I'm ambivalent about Super delegates. Part of me wants to let the people decide. Part of me wants to have a safety valve to allow a response to late breaking information.
