Obama Surrogate: He Will Be "First Woman President"
From the "With Friends Like These" file...

Obama supporter and Virginia first lady Anne Holton, the wife of Governor Timothy Kaine, is putting together a group called "Women for Obama." Why form such a group on behalf of a candidate who's running against the first female with a real shot at becoming president?

Well, as another member of the group, Megan Beyer, wife of former lieutenant governor Donald S. Beyer, put it to The Washington Post...

Beyer said Obama's "warmth" and his early opposition to the war in Iraq are big selling points with female voters. "In many ways, he really will be the first woman president," she said.
Hmmm. At this rate, if Obama wins the Presidency, he'll be the first woman president and the second black one.

2. Mmmm-yeah.
There's only one candidate I see who would fit the description of "First Woman President."

It's not Obama.

And hey, I voted for him yesterday, suppressing the "Sense of the Sisterhood" that was pretty deep and pretty wide within my own heart.

4. He's like the Borg. He assimilates everyone, even their gender.
He is JFK and MLK and Wellstone and Reagan and now he is androgynous, too.

8. Are we going to elect the First Woman President, or the "First Woman President"?
A great line for the Clinton campaign - provided by the Obama campaign.

I guess if you look hard enough you can always find a reason to stab a sister in the back.

That's fine. But don't start trying to pretend it's a Giant Leap For Womankind.

11. Time for Dem women to stand up to the men in our party
Guys, we've been putting up with your sexism for quite some time, particularly the "young turks" crowd who seem to think that estrogen interferes with one's ability to be a Democratic leader or make intelligent commentary on political and policy affairs.

Now that there's a woman in the race for president, please do me and the rest of the women a favor and STFU about what we want and who is the best candidate to deliver it. Its time to acknowledge that women voters make up the majority of the Democratic Party and that our leaders' failure to deal with that fact has cost us quite a few elections (remember when Dems thought women's issues were birth control, abortion and education?).

We'll decide for ourselves, thank you very much. Remember, you begin to look like fools when you try to expound on this issue.

14. That's fine
as long as you're doing so based on your own opinions.

My post is referring to the ludicrous idea that men in the Democratic Party can suddenly tell us which candidate best serves us and which issues should be important enough.

If you like Obama, let his campaign staff know they should never presume to dictate anything to women voters.

10. Richmond radio this morning
Obama will be the "first woman President" was the first thing I heard when I switched over to WRVA this morning --this is the megastation that carries Beck Rush Hannity and Savage. The local morning guy was actually reading the "Bill will become president if Hillary wins, Hillary will be appointed VP and run again" email that is going around. This bozo then went on to point out that you can vote in either primary on Tuesday (while making fun of people thinking the vote was two days ago) HINT HINT *wink* so in the myriad of falsehoods and disinformation and plausibly deniable marching orders/excuses he brings up that Obama could be the "first woman president" adding in that "some people say" that Obama is a bit effeminate. I don't know if he mentioned the "Obama muslim" email but I would be surprised if he didn't.

Well there you have it folks Virginia in the playing field. I expect that between WRVA and the local horrific rag the Times-Dispatch much of these talking points will be made over the next 6 days.

Oh and I saw TWO Obama ads (in a diner talking about jobs going overseas and offshore tax cheats) during the Duke -UNC basketball game. AND one on American Idol which I understand are not only really expensive but hard to get at any price (marketing goldmine).
Really really good buys for the younger market.

12. He certainly isnt wearing the pants in this election
He has shown an inability to take one on the chin without running away crying. Hillary has taken in on the chin for 15 years.
