So I just donated another 50 bucks online to Obama.

Feels good to keep making a difference, in whatever small ways I can.

1. In all honesty, what if they are putting in their own wealth because they believe in themselves?
It's as much a possibility as any other, even if I'm not so sure of it myself...

8. Obama took money from Nuclear Interests to go against his District
when they found radioactivity in their water.
You should read the NYT and find out who the person is you're
handing your $50 to.

47. Once again you dont know what the hell you are talking about. You can not have
radioactivity in water. Radioactivity is energy like light waves, x-rays or gamma rays. Do you think there are gamma rays in the water?? Please give a link to your source.

And once again your post is inserted in the first of the thread as a reply to nothing. Why don't you start your own threads neutron.

By the way have you seen the movie "Hillary"?

39. It's All A Leap Of Faith
I wouldn't be so happy about putting my own money up just to keep the playing field level, but I understand why it has to be done. And the situation could reverse itself yet again.

11. I'd hardly call what they have a fortune
considering all the $$$ they had to spend to defend themselves from Starr, etc. in the 1990s. By 2000, the Clintons were damn near destitute (well, as destitute as you can be and be a member of the political class).

By your yardstick, one could be wildly popular to many millions of lesser donors and still not be able to "stay alive honestly."

I would prefer a candidate who does get their support from millions of lesser donors. They would be the true choice of US citizens instead of the choice of US corporations. If only I could find one like that.

Oh, wait...I did:

I'd rather see a candidate donate money to themselves than asking me to donate.

Sheesh. I hate seeing all these posts where people are talking about how they just sent in $40 they couldn't really afford to finance some rich person running for office. I have no clue how we came to view that as normal.

21. As an Edwards, then Obama supporter, I don't understand why
people are upset that Bill and Hillary are investing their own money in her campaign. I actually respect candidates who are willing to put their own money where their mouth is. Why should others pay all of the campaign costs? If you have the ability, why shouldn't you pay your own way?

I actually respect Hillary more for this. It's a huge risk on her part. It tells me that she really, really, really wants the job! $5 million is not an insignificant amount of money!

Money equals free speech? Bullshit. We regulate things to keep excessive wealth from fouling our society. I do not like rich assholes who buy government positions by spending their massive wealth, no matter which party they are in.
