I read a post and am posting it, If true Obama is unelectable!
http://firedoglake.com/2008/02/06/nobodys-hands-are-per... /

I have long been an admirer of Ms. Kennedy's and I think she has point. Problem is, Obama has a Tony Rezko problem. Actually a whole bunch of Tony Rezko problems. And a few other problems here and there which do not say very good things about his character or his sense of ethics or his ability to spot the appearance of impropriety. I include on that list the recent revelations about the legislation which he claims to have "passed" relating to leakage of nuclear material into drinking water.

snip;

Barack Obama, for his part, went to Rezko for "advice" about how to buy a house he cannot afford and "poof" Rezko's wife pays full price for a portion of the property and Obama gets a discount on the house. A while later, he bought back 1/6 of the lot from her for 1/6 of the price she paid for it. How is that different from an interest free loan equal to the amount paid for that 1/6 of the lot? According to MyDD, Obama pays for the landscaping of the Rezko lot and may have been using it to park his cars because his neighborhood does not allow on street parking, in which case how is this different from rent free occupancy of the land?

Now comes the revelation: the Chicago Sun Times reported that Obama is mentioned in the federal criminal case against Rezko.

Obama is not named in the Dec. 21 court document. But a source familiar with the case confirmed that Obama is the unnamed “political candidate” referred to in a section of the document that accuses Rezko of orchestrating a scheme in which a firm hired to handle state teacher pension investments first had to pay $250,000 in “sham” finder’s fees. From that money, $10,000 was donated to Obama’s successful run for the Senate in the name of a Rezko business associate, according to the court filing and the source.

Rezko, who was part of Obama’s senatorial finance committee, also is accused of directing “at least one other individual” to donate money to Obama and then reimbursing that individual — in possible violation of federal election law.

snip;

Nowhere was Obama's ability to navigate Springfield's subcultures on better display than at The Committee Meeting. That was the code name for Wednesday night poker games attended by about a dozen lawmakers and lobbyists. Obama was a regular, and his stingy betting became a running joke with those at the table.

--snip--

One of the things that came out about Abramoff et al. was that they would invite Congress critters to play poker and wine and dine in a hotel suite that the lobbyist paid for, and then let them win. It was a way of passing money to them without leaving a paper trail. The Chicago events were hosted at the HQ of a lobbying organization, I think it's fair to assume that the cocktails and Cohibas were provided by the hosts and the article makes a point of saying that he was a stingy better and a cautious player--directly suggesting that he seldom

oh there is more..much more

This guy has the FUTURE! And its not Obama!

2. Really, I don't think you want to go there with shady people if you are a clinton supporter
The rezko issue has been discussed and has gone nowhere. Do the clintons really want anyone digging into their business dealings? Your candidate was able to plunk down $5,000,000.00 to fund her own campaign. Thats a hell of a lot of money.

There is a lot of stuff out there about Bill's dealings overseas, etc. I don't really think Hillary's supporters what to start going down this road. NOt a wise political move.

20. Wouldn't it be better to figure out if there's a problem before the Rethugs do?
The part that's new in here is the possible info that Obama was involved BEFORE the subdivision -- that he might have induced the owner to apply for the subdivision, involving Rezco from the beginning -- and that his wife was involved through the Commission.

I sincerely hope Obama did nothing wrong, but if he did, I want it to come out before he's the nominee, not afterwards.

I counted that 18 times in two hours last night. Anyone who opposes Obama is emotionally unstable!

Now that the media officially said that it's a tied game, it's permissible to blaspheme the new messiah -- as long as nombody is there to say "Hillary did it, too." But who knows what a week will bring?

34. Okay, if it's not new, then
what's the explanation? I had decided that there wasn't anything to worry about with regard to the story, but I hadn't heard the claims that Michelle was on the commission and that she and Barack may have persuaded the seller to apply for subdivision of the property, and that Rezco may have been involved at that point. Are these details "old news"? And if so, then what does Obama say about this?

43. Swiftboating on Firedoglake
SNIP

Obama and Rezko are discussed Firedoglake in a terrible and borderline slanderous article.
Before I go into it: I am mildly supportive of Obama who is not the progressive candidate I'd like to see, but who seems to me to be marginally better than Hillary Clinton who I also think would be a decent president (and obviously better than any possible Republican). I don't really know much about the Rezko matter and originally looked at the FDL article with interest to see if there really was something there. However, the article's treatment of something I did know something about was so misleading that it made me distrust everything else. The author claims that Miner, Barnhill firm that employed Obama was a "sleazy" and "ethically spotty" firm, insinuating that it essentially acted as an arm of Rezko's business and that Obama's choice of this firm itself is deeply suspicious. In this light the Rezko connection become ominous. But a little research shows this entire construction to be fabricated.

Obama isn't even close to being unelectable, he's not going to win this go around. But...He's going to be our lead man in 2012 and for years to come. However.com it's hillarys time, we're ready to accept her leadership and she'll win us 50 states in 2008
