Gore hopes "she" wins?
Anybody see this piece on CNN or any mention of it other than one one below? What was really said, I wonder? Interesting....

CNN aired the Gore clip on super Tuesday. After he voted, he was asked about endorsing, he stated “I’m trying to stay out of it but I hope “she” wins”. Further, he stated that “she ” is the only candidate who will implement a renewable energy/environmental plan. He will put aside his differences to help the environment and he can help HRC.

February 6th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Did anyone see the clip on CNN of Al Gore voting on super Tuesday? Said he hoped “she” would win as she is the only one who will implement a green energy plan. Further he said he would put his differences (with Clintons) aside for the sake of the environment and that he would help HRC.

None of this is mentioned here: politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0208/Al_Gores_vote.html

Really -
I've been saying that for a while. Obama still favors Nuclear with any clear path to safe disposal and the Liquefied Coal backing would be a deal breaker for Gore. While I always wanted him to endorse Edwards because he had the best energy plan, HRC would be a close second.

They probably got the idea from the story about Governor Easley doing a similar thing when he slipped in a "she" to hint at who he was supporting.

45. Well, if you use the politico link...
included in my OP....which was included in the original report, you get directly to politico's story about Al's vote...

Here it is as a working link: http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0208/Al_Gores_vote.html

Politico's report doesn't necessarily negate the report of the CNN piece, though.

Sorry to get you so riled up.

Because that quote is on two places on the internets. It's on politico and a Hillary supporter site. Which came first?

Of course it negates it. Gore voted early. He wasn't at the polling place.

You didn't get me riled up. I know better than to trust unsourced bullshit.

What post is gone?

As for trusting any source, if you read my OP I'm trying to find out if anyone's seen or heard of this because I don't necessarily trust one uncorroborated report on the internet. THAT's what the OP was all about...Not Al Gore voted for Hillary. But, did anyone see this who can confirm or clarify?

Thanks!

98. And, rumor has it, had a major falling out.
I wouldn't be "shocked" if he endorsed either candidate, but I would be somewhat surprised if he endorsed Hillary wholeheartedly. It wouldn't make me "slam" him - none of the endorsements make me slam anyone - nor would it change my own opinion about Hillary. Endorsements are nice, but I'm not sure they make all that much difference.

107. If anyone knows firsthand, what a bunch of-...
...bloodsucking, powermongering, dirty tricksters--the Clintons are--it's Al Gore.

Never, will he endorse Hillary.

Look at the relationships that have been forged since Gore was the veep. Gore
is not tight with the Clintons. However, the Clintons socialize and are involved
with the Bushes.

It's clear that Al Gore sees what we can only imagine in our nightmares.

I have no idea how Gore feels about Obama. It's clear though that he is
not on the same side of the Clintons.

Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 01:09 PM by Bongo Prophet
i think most people don't make their final decision on endorsements, but it does add a level of associative trust. And if I like someone who then endorses someone else, I have NEVER turned on that person. the stuff we have seen this year has been ugly, and I fear is causing deep and lasting resentments.

The things said this year about McGovern, RFK Jr, Clark on one side and Ted, Kerry and Caroline on the other - damn, people should be ashamed of themselves. Senile? Traitors? Damn. being a democrat in the Rovian era is hard work.

Edit to add the original point I had in the first place::dunce:

I hope Gore stays out of this mess - his cause is too important to piss off HALF of the dems.

Can you imagine what he could do as Secretary of the Interior? And I can think of several other good possibilities, too. It would be incredible if he got enticed into accepting a Cabinet post. he was at the polling place when they spoke to him.

I just wish I could find someone who saw what the clip really was....unless it was just totally fabricated...

44. Highly skeptical of the OP's source, the lack of any source at OP's source, and the lack of
context. Dream on.

If Al endorses, it will be for Obama. Anybody who thinks otherwise hasn't been paying attention to Al the last few years. Geez, Al wrote a book about the need for grassroots people to reclaim their democracy from the Washington establishment. You think now he would actually endorse the candidate that represents the Dem establishment of 16 years over a people-powered candidate?

Expect the Obama campaign to drop the Gore bomb anytime between now and March 4. My guess is that it will be after Obama has a string of wins this month, and Gore's endorsement will signal that it's time to coalesce around Obama.

Not them that stayed away.

Some of the revisionist history emanating from Team Obama lately would make the Soviets proud.

53. Has anyone mentioned Gore's Current TV backers?
Ronald Burkle and Steve Rattner, fincancial backers of Current TV, are also both supporters of Hillary Clinton. It may be that money speaks when it comes down to an endorsement by Gore (assuming he makes one).

64. CarolNYC, this is beneath you. It is such an obviously slanted site, and a lie.
"What was really said, I wonder? Interesting...."

Good grief, you can tell in 5 seconds what atrain wreck that site is.
Anti-Kennedy jokes. Non-working links.
"Bill Cristol"

I really think you are smart enough to know that was a bad source.
But then that is how an amateur whisper campaign turns out.
That's why they hire pros to do it.
Maybe you can just support your candidate, rather than try to play games.

There is an "Obama supporter" trying play games too, by insinuating lack of education of Hillary supporters.
He is doing nothing but causing division in our party, and that is his goal, I suspect.

I don't think you are that bad at all, and I think you are a real supporter, but just being a bit too enthusiastic.
I hope I am right, because I have enjoyed your posts in the past.
Let's play it clean, okay?

“Al Gore hasn’t made an endorsement, but he has made his choice,” Ben Smith notes.

Gore’s ballot “was one of the 631,680 counted yesterday in Tennessee, where Clinton won the state by a 54% to 40% margin.”

Said a spokeswoman: “He early voted. As a private citizens, neither of the Gores are releasing who they voted for.”

85. I am sorry, that came out wrong. I have liked your posts, but thought this was innuendo.
And that I didn't expect you to pass along obvious innuendo.

I am so sick of all the faux outrage, the hating of Kennedy's (by both sides) and anyone else that endorsed (again, both sides) that I have a hair trigger.

If you sincerely thought that was a legit story, and just wanted to know more, then I sincerely apologize.
I should have taken a break after the "Clinton supporters are not smart" BS. That burned me up.:banghead:

i am really trying to take a high road on all this, and look forward to working with you in the general, when we can focus on kicking out the neocons.

Gore Endorsement Rumor Kicking Around Clinton Campaign

A well-placed spouse of a Clinton campaign insider just told me that a rumor is spreading like wild fire that Al Gore is going to endorse Barack Obama.

My source emphasizes that this is rumor and may just be paranoia and hyperventilation of the campaign, but it's important to know that this rumor is out there. Another source of mine inside Obamaland has told me that they have been working very hard to secure Gore's public support and trying numerous avenues to "encourage" him...

keeps quiet until we have chosen our candidate. Then I hope he jumps in, in a BIG way! We need Al. We certainly don't need to turn on each other. Come November we are all in this together. I think either Clinton or Obama would be great as president. I don't think either one of them needs to have people lying about them one way or the other. They both have a lot to offer.

Gore Endorsement Rumor Kicking Around Clinton Campaign
Posted February 7, 2008 | 12:05 PM (EST)

A well-placed spouse of a Clinton campaign insider just told me that a rumor is spreading like wild fire that Al Gore is going to endorse Barack Obama.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Gore would do this now -- despite his clear disaffection for the Clintons. He is the undisputed king of the climate change franchise now, but even kingdoms can be assaulted, undermined, outfoxed, circumvented, ridiculed, and starved.
