Let's not look like optimistic idiots
whenever some Republican somewhere says Bush has a chance at winning California or New York, we all laugh.

However, that's just as ridiculous as people saying we can win:

Alabama
North Dakota
Oklahoma
Wyoming
Indiana
Kansas
ect.

all states I've seen people say here before are winnable. Might I also add that they are far more winnable for Gore than Kerry, and yet Gore still didn't even come close at all.

Let's mock the Republicans for saying they have chances in states they obviously don't, but not say the same with the excuses like "I was there and lots of people don't like Bush" (I dare you to find a place where every single person likes Bush). That sounds just as stupid and simplistic as "New Yorkers will vote for Bush because of 9/11" or "California will vote for Bush because they elected Arnold"

1. agree mostly, except on Oklahoma
i think there is a chance of winning oklahoma. not as much as some other states like west virginia, arizona, nevada, new hampshire and other states bush won, but it's not one we should totally write off.

another thing is we should not take all gore states for granted. we have to work hard all over the country.

3. Oklahoma is fundie heaven
take a look at the two senators they kept electing in landslides for so long. Aside from that, Bush got over 60% in 2000, and beat Gore by 22 points. Bush only got over 60% in 7 states, so if Oklahoma is winnable, just about every state is.

2. I didn't realize there were people on DU actually saying that
You're right, of course. Those are states Clinton didn't even come close to winning, and he won two electoral landslides.

5. I always love the anecdotes, " my coworker who is a hardcore
republican, now says he won't vote for bush!" and extrapolates that the end is near for bush. These from the same people who will dismiss a natl survey of likely voters if the margin of error is over 3%.
