The Republican Machine
Willard Mitt Romney is withdrawing (or "suspending") his campaign today. Although he is an obnoxious character, I had hoped he would stay in longer. I wanted to bitter and toxic fight that would divide the republican party.

Journalists have been mentioning since Super Tuesday that Willard had to consider his future with the republican party. Staying in would have damaged his reputation in the future. He may believe that he is making a good move, because if McCain wins in November, Mitt may get a position (RNC chair or Secretary of Labor) that will help him. He knows McCain will age in cosmic dog years during the dog days of his administration. More, if McCain loses, Mitt will consider himself the front-runner in 2012.

Will Hucklebee stay in much longer? Though nothing surprises me these days, I think he may step aside soon. He is saying that he carries the states needed to win in November, but he must realize that it takes more than one section of the country.

It would be better for the democrats if Huckleberry stays in. If he wraps it up soon, he gets more time to rest and to try to prepare for November. Though he is damaged goods, we cannot afford to take anything for granted.

1. I just had a premonition that McCain will pick Mitt as his running mate
...that the deal was sealed with persuasion by the powers that be in the Republican Party which convinced Mitt to call it quits -- still gives him a chance for a Pres bid in 2012.

3. Yikes!
That's actually something that might help McCain, who is admittedly not a deep thinker on domestic/financial issues.

7. Yes, I agree. And, it will 'calm' down the rightwing hate talkers who've been directing attacks
against McCain -- On Stephanie Miller this am, one of the guests said that they've been calling McCain 'the song bird' claiming that he 'sang' to the enemy as a POW. Miller's response: "Jeesh, it's 'Lord of the Flies' on the right."

They've been pushing Mitt as the only Reagan Republican.

Is this the 'healing' ticket they're after?

A McCain/Huckabee is too risky, and they know that.

8. Mitt is on the attack.
His speech seems like what one expects from a VP candidate. He is combining the Great Society programs with a "culture of poverty" and pornography.

2. Republicans have much tighter control at the top.
It's their nature. They find authoritarians comforting. When the powers that be rule, guys like Mitt know to fall into line.

He knows he's the favorite for 2012 now, so he's happy.

5. True.
The official story will be that Mitt saw that he was falling behind, and he didn't want to (a) be viewed as a "bad sport," and (b) spend his own money on a losing cause. But I think it is safe to say that he was given the word.

His approach is based on dishonesty, hatred, and fear.

12. No greater love
does any Willard have, but to lay down his campaign to keep his nation safe from Hillary, Barack, and terrorists.
