Those simple-minded folk calling Obama voters 'cult' are just brainwashed by corpmedia
Corpmedia has seized this theme calling all Obama support cultlike and the most simple-minded Americans have dutifully followed along and are now using it themselves and spreading that meme all over the internets.

Poor brainwashed fools. Bless their simple hearts and minds.

But a reminder from your Profile:

I see no point in talking to rude posters. If you need to work on your anger issues, don't bother me with them. People who lack the ability to distinguish between attacking candidates and attacking other posters are not worth the time it takes to explain that to them. Want to talk to me? Keep it civil, otherwise, you're gone from my screen, and fast.

The status quo has been for young people to consume, get in debt, and stay out of politics. A movement that changes that must cause corporate types to quake in their boots unlike anything else.

It would be nice if the campaigns could manage these things. But, I thinks attacks and derision, to some degree, are encouraged by the political attacks which come from the top. It just gives wind to these hacks who think they've found some weapon of their own invention to whack their rivals with.

Obama, cheney's energy bill, Rezmar (Rezko), Iraq nuclear power plant. Lend me your ear and brain.
Obama voted for Cheney's energy bill - a giveaway to oil companies. Hillary voted no.

Rezko has a company called Rezmar. They are partnered with a British firm to build an Nuclear power plant in Iraq. Just asking...how come the MSM hasn't asked

him about this. further, how come the obama supporters haven't?

http://www.menafn.com/qn_news_story_s.asp?storyid=10211...

MENAFN - 31/07/2005

(MENAFN) Rezmar Corp., a real estate development company entered into a joint venture with a British firm in a $150-million deal to build a power plant in Iraq.

The contract, signed with Iraq's ministry of electricity, calls for joint venture to supply power to Iraq for 10 years, according to a spokesman for Chicago-based Rezmar.

The 250-megawatt power plant is slated to be one of three power plants under construction at the same time. A Brazilian firm and an Iraqi company are building the

other two.

The Rezmar joint venture will be based in Jordan. Construction is slated to begin this fall.

in the WH at all, if Bill had respected the truth and the historic record enough to deal honestly with all the outstanding matters in IranContra, Iraqgate, BCCI and CIA drugrunning.

Or hasn't that ever OCCURRED to you and all who put up this VENEER of outrage in your need to protect your own FAITH in Clintons?

Clintons PROTECT Bushes. They always have and they always will.

Obama is smart enough to be surrounding himself with dtrong progressive open government Democrats.

Too bad you can't SEE that this would be a great thing for this country after DECADES of closed government we've been force-fed.

They always have and always wil, and NO corporate mediwhore is going to air a news segment about that.

So - why, again, am I swayed by the media to support an open government Democrat calling for transparency and surrounded by open government Democrats like John Kerry who has investigated and exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in moden history while Clinton has covered up more government corruption of BushInc than any Dem in modern history?

Got an answer for THAT?

14. People observed. People commented. Word filtered up to the media, not the other way around.
People began asking, what in the hell is going on here, where admiring crowds turn into adoring throngs. What was being spoken of in the street is now being printed in the mainstream.

The New York Times. The Guardian. Sac Bee. Times mag. Blogs like American Thinker (admittedly conservative). Rush, you can bet, is biding his time, waiting for the opportune moment to discuss this. I think Sean Hannity already has.

Oprah can help her buddy by having a cult expert on her show to debunk the meme. But of course, that will make people talk about it even more.

Obama, Axelrod and Gibbs created the monster, and it's up to them to control it.

45. Be as passionate as you want.
But cultism isn't passion. It includes passion, and it can be catalyzed by passion, but it's its own thing.

I've posted about it before -- I made an effort to actually explain WHY I describe it as cult-like. These are not idle speculations. When I want to make a wisecrack, it's usually to say that Obama is the messiah -- a verbal cartoon. But actual cultishness scares me. I hope Obama will strike a better balance than he has been doing.

Also you need to listen to the Kennedys' and King speeches. Full of lofty, inspiring, eloquent language and sparse on 'details.' They inspired because they didn't recite of laundry list of proposals. They called out to our better natures to change ( remember the 'new frontier' or "some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not.' or I have a dream)

Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 02:25 PM by RamboLiberal
Where the hell were they in 2004 or 2000 when we endured the cult of Bush? I ran in to a ton of those idiots during the 2004 election including their showing up to try to disrupt Kerry or Edwards events in my area. But I sure never saw the damn media jumping on the W supporters even in 2004 when you could see they were surely nuts for supporting the lying warmonger.

I support Obama(my 2nd choice after Edwards) but will vote for Hillary if she's the nominee for the GE. I don't consider myself a cult member for supporting a Democratic candidate!

BTW, note it's also Jake Tapper and Joe Klein who's jumped on this BS as well. Oh and I've pretty much avoided this forum lately because some of the Obama and the Clinton DU'ers here want to make me :puke:

Both of our candidates are outstanding - why the hell does it have to be so personal with some of you?

38. It's politics. Obama's new plan for rebuilding New Orleans should help.
People have been looking for something heavy to bash Obama with ever since he became Senator. The 'cult meme' is it. Obama has let issues stay in the background, and has built his campaign mostly on the basis of a powerful message of national unity and 'turning the page' of history.

The truth is, many Democrats -- and nonpolitical folks as well -- have been laid so low over the Bush years that this message does have a substantial emotional component for them. 'Cult' is overstating it, but when Obama says that he's not sure Hillary will attract all his voters, there's at least some acknowledgment there that some of his voters are voting for the man and not the party. Obama's image also plays into a lot of deep emotions in America's history. He's not MLK, but he is a beneficiary of the profound American change the civil rights movment catalyzed in America, and the success of his candidacy goes a long way toward the most tangible, vivid realization of MLK's dream yet. So it's not surprising that some people have invested their hearts as well as their heads in his candidacy.

Some of that, Obama can't help. But in my opinion, he would be well-served by moving the oratory to the back burner, and burnishing the wonky side of his personality a little more. Let people find some purchase to disagree with him policywise. Let issues move his candidacy along for a while.

It seems like he gets this. The plan he's just announced for rebuilding the Gulf Coast is a great way of transforming his airy political slogans, "Yes, we can!" and "Change you can believe in" into something substantive, beyond his personality. I think it shows a lot of wisdom, as well -- our government has been intervening in the Gulf Coast, but ineptly. If Obama can demonstrate a more wide-ranging, thoughtful approach, it will do much to promote the return to competent government, and refute some of the 'empty suit' jabs that Obama's critics occasionally take.
