The Freepers in my office. WOW!
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 02:17 PM by Greyskye
Now to be completely honest, they don't visit FR, but they are loyal Rush listeners. We've been sparring politically ever since Clinton was in office. I stopped talking politics to one of them for a number of years after he pulled the old "Liberals hate America" crap and I jumped down his throat.

They both just came by my office. They hate the thought of McCain getting the GOP nomination. Neither one of them says that they will vote for him in the general election. With Romney now out, they don't feel that there is a 'true' conservative in the running anymore, as they both dismiss Huckabee as unelectable. (One of them said he first wanted Drop Dead Fred, the Ghouliani, then Mittens - but not in those words. )

What made my jaw hit the floor, is that they both say that they would seriously consider voting for Obama, maybe even Hillary, if the only alternative is McCain! Of course the reason they give for that, is so that whichever Dem is elected POTUS will completely screw up the country, and will guarantee Republican rule for another 8 years after that!

Bottom Line: These 2 hard core Republican conservatives will NOT vote McCain. Period. End of story.

:wow:

(edit for embarrassing typo in the subject)

9. Rush says so so it must be true...
Honestly, he voted against the first Bush Tax cut and sponsored a weak immigration bill...

Other than that, he'd appointment bat shit crazy judges just like any republican would...

He would continue the privitization of the US government and turn back regulations and try to limit all law suits...

In other words, he would complete the work that Bush started...

and feel he's been very disloyal to the chimp. He also wants to close Guantonomo (sp?) and is against torture. That's a no-no with the batshit crazies.

28. I just tried to pin them down on that

The answer: everything.

The truly strange thing is, even on the war - which they both support - they think that McCain is talking it up now, but will reverse himself and pull the troops out as soon as he gets into office.

They just don't like anything about him.

I asked specifically about who they would vote for if it came down to McCain vs. Hillary, or McCain vs. Obama. This time they said they would go 3rd party before they voted for Hillary, but there was a chance they would vote for Obama.

30. for one thing.......
...they don't like that McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts the first couple of years.

But the really big reason they don't like him is because of his illegal immigration policy.......which they like to call 'amnesty'.
And that is an important issue to them so it was a very big deal when McCain 'betrayed' them by that bill.

12. That's the same story I'm getting from my Republifriend.
HE said he likes Obama and may even vote for Hillary over McCain. He can't stand him. HE has this theory that Romney will come back again in 4 years and win. (He liked Romney)

13. The sad thing is that no matter what a Democrat will do in
office that will put this country back on track and that they will directly benefit from, they won't recognize that and will vote for the next Republican coming along in four years who isn't McCain.

15. newbie question: would somone define freeper for me?
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 02:19 PM by Uncle Sinister
When I first got here, thought it was synonymous with troll. Nope. Then thought maybe a contraction for f*ing republican creep (kinda like that one, but wrong again)

Now I'm assuming based on usage they're members of some rw forum, but I don't like to use words unless I know exactly what they mean. It's a fetish thing for me.

So, definition, please?

20. they are members of a rw forum which cannot be named
and trust me, you don't really want to go there anyway. The same forum is the source of all the bad spelling, such as "series" (serious), HUGH (huge), moran (moron), casting asparagus (casting aspersions), and many more moments of unintentional hilarity and seriesly hugh gaps in logic.

You aren't missing much - consider them the web version of Rush's dittoheads.

I've heard that rationale as well. The idea that they think it's better that a Democrat take office because things are so bad: the economy, Iraq, etc. that the Democrat will screw things up. Their rationale is that it's better that things go bad with a Democrat than a Republican. I think Rush is leading on this meme.

First of all, it demonstrates what cowards these people really are deep down. They are the ones that FORCED US to accept this war in Iraq, which we never wanted, and now want to leave the mess for someone else to clean up. They were the ones who give away TRILLIONS of dollars to their corporate buddies and now want someone else to clean it up.

Second of all, they don't consider the possibility that the Democrat will come in and clean up their mess and win over the approval of the American people.

26. I just got an email from a conservative friend........
...who basically said the same thing!!

He said the only option left now is to vote for Obama because he is the candidate that the Washington elites do not want.

Oh yeah, and he also said once Obama is elected, it will inspire a conservative revolution like when Clinton was elected........

from some very conservative people. My first question to them is usually how they consider Rudy more conservative than McCain? I don't think they'd vote dem but they will leave that race blank.
