Will Gore Endorse Obama? - - Rumor is spreading like wildfire
Will Gore Endorse Obama?
By Steve Clemons, Huffington Post. Posted February 7, 2008.

It is a rumor apparently spreading like wildfire through the Clinton campaign.

A well-placed spouse of a Clinton campaign insider just told me that a rumor is spreading like wild fire that Al Gore is going to endorse Barack Obama.

My source emphasizes that this is rumor and may just be paranoia and hyperventilation of the campaign, but it's important to know that this rumor is out there. Another source of mine inside Obamaland has told me that they have been working very hard to secure Gore's public support and trying numerous avenues to "encourage" him.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Gore would do this now -- despite his clear disaffection for the Clintons. He is the undisputed king of the climate change franchise now, but even kingdoms can be assaulted, undermined, outfoxed, circumvented, ridiculed, and starved.

If Hillary Clinton wins this tight race -- which she may still do -- then Gore is gambling with his own status as a climate-change first-and-only transcendant politician.

It will be interesting to see what happens, and of course if Barack Obama wins the primary and then the presidency, Al Gore will get significant credit. The problem is that that can work the other way too.

6. There was also the rumor spreading like wildfire that he would RUN
And it wasn't true either.

If this did come from the Clinton camp I imagine it's more fear talking than anything.

8. Probably another red herring being put out by HRC so that in the event Gore
doesn't, it looks bad on Obama. Sort of like the "we're the underdog" meme, or "we're broke" meme, or "Obama is the establishment".

Consider the source :hi:

30. I would be wary of ANYTHING that comes out of the Clinton campaign
Dirty tricks and Rovian tactics--modus operandi of the Clinton Campaign.

I also think all the Clinton camp's whining to the media about how "unfair" media has been to her and how media were pro Obama is having its effect. Some of the talking heads are now bending over backwards in a mea culpa that is nauseating.

9. He should endorse someone if he wants the next Pres. to adopt his policies
Not endorsing anyone would be a mistake, and since its well known how much he loves the Clintons :sarcasm: he should endorse Obama while it could still make a difference.

10. Gore has been talking about how we need a movement of people - Dems, Repubs, and Independents
to actually do everything we need to do to fight Climate Change. We need to include the entire globe in this fight also.

Obama is perfect for what Gore has been hoping for to fight Climate Change.

35. would make far more sense for Gore to endorse Obama
rather than Hillary.
what you said.
Obama has a far better chance, and has already proven it, to bring people together.
Clinton is a divider like her brother-inl-law George.

11. Maybe if he's offered a role helping to pull the strings.
Gore should see more than most how ill qualified the guy is. Why would he champion another puppet government?

At this point I don't see Gore as a petty revenge oriented person. If he does endorse the guy, it'll be more of a sad comment on himself than a positive comment on the empty suit.

Kennedy, Kerry, Carter, Olberman, Oprah, MSNBC, Moveone.org, Culinary Union, African American voters, and anyone else that has either endorsed or even said something positive(Olberman, MSNBC, Carter) about Obama to be added to the list of those thrown under the Hillary-annoitment bus.

Then I remembered that it was his choice to distance himself from the Clintons during his own campaign. Nuff said.

20. I think Gore may wait a little bit...
It seems obvious to me that Obama will remain in the race for a little bit longer. It may serve his interests better if he waited for a more strategically sound time to give his endorsement.

That's why his endorsement is critical for Obama.

22. This Hillary Supporter Says I hope so.
I feel the same way about him as I do about Edwards. All we need to do is line them up on a stage add Reid and Pelosi, and the MSM and you would have a picture of everything wrong with our party over the last 30 years.

I bought one of Gores books recently and it brought me to tears a couple of times. What could have been, and what is. But you know what? That ignorant fuck chose to turn his back on one of the most popular presidents of our time, and paid dearly for it. And then when he could have stood up for democracy he lost his balls. So piss on him, he had a chance to make a true difference. Yeah put him on the stage with the rest of the (cough) change candidates.

Gores like the smartest fire fighter of all time but you can't take him to a fire because they scare him, so he is pretty much useless unless he is writing a book.

Funny, bands coming through town still say and I quote "fuck Tipper Gore." Hardly a right wing bunch those aging rockers, but they really carry a grudge for a long while.

29. You picked a very appropriate name for your website: EmptyMind
Al Gore is not the person you portray.

How do you KNOW that Gore made the decision to not campaign with Billy?.?.?

From my understanding it was a group/party decision, and NOT his alone. Was it a mistake?.?.? Who can know for sure? I sure can't make that claim.

Now another question: WHY are you here???

If this thing goes all the way to the convention, which is becoming a possibility, he'd be the perfect compromise candidate.
