So far he has won convincingly every midwestern contested primary: Illinois (did better than Clinton did in his homestate vs. how she did in her homestate of NY), Iowa, ND, KS, MN. He took Iowa by over ten points (HRC came in third). He took ND, KS, IL and MN by over 60% of the vote. Yes, HRC won Michigan where hers was the only major candidate on ballot. I think we need a candidate who can prove that they can win in the MW.
We have several more coming up: Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Nebraska and South Dakota contests. It will be very telling who wins these states in the end.
On edit: some people consider Missouri a Midwestern state too. I consider it border state but I have a friend who says Northern MO says it's a midwestern state, but southern MO says it's a Southern state, so I'm not sure.
