I don't have a lot of money to throw around and I generally am resentful that we have to give this kind of money to candidates that we support when it should all be federally funded, a shorter campaign period, etc.
Having said that, we are where we are in this crazy, money-lusting capitalistic society and money is now one of our few tools remaining to us, besides our voices and votes, to affect political change.
So I gave $25 (sad I know, but I had a bad year) to Obama. I will probably give again in the coming months, but this was my first contribution to a candidate so far in this race and I do it now, because I want the momentum to keep rolling in.
This momentum is what democracy and large-scale movements looks like. We haven't seen one on a long time but this is it. It's a wave and the good thing is is that it is self-generated. Not from the top down, but the bottom up.
We are not getting caught up in a wave, we ARE the wave.
On Edit: I changed the title to freshen it up a bit, you know, give it it that hip, kool, edgey feel.
