DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa Governor Chet Culver will endorse Barack Obama's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination during a rally tonight in Omaha, Nebraska.
Culver says Obama has been fighting for ordinary people for many years, and will continue to fight for them as president.
The governor says he will make his announcement in Omaha, where Obama has scheduled a rally just days before Nebraska's Democratic caucuses on Saturday.
His endorsement gives Obama a boost in Iowa.
It also means that Culver will support the Illinois senator as a super-delegate at this summer's nominating convention in Denver. Super-delegates have become increasingly important in the competitive race for the Democratic nomination.
The governor told The Associated Press about his endorsement plans today in a telephone interview.
