DU-TV Takes on the MSM!

After years on the air as a progressive/liberal Democratic network, DUTV has now officially become part of the mainstream media – yes, that same mindless, misinforming MSM that the network’s most committed audience members have railed against for years.

Who needs talkin’ hairdos when you can listen to talking keyboards that are now doing the same job – only better!

Just tune-in to the GDP Show any day of the week, and be astonished by the similarities; everything you always hated about the TV news is now at your fingertips: candidates’ quotes taken out of context, RW talking points injected into every discussion, comments from heretofore despised right-wingers trotted out to make the case for the candidate of your choice!

Have you always felt just a tad left out of things because you just couldn’t get into what Britney and Paris were up to? Well, now you, too, can engage in mindless chatter about who snubbed who, who shook whose hand – or didn’t! – who’s afraid to debate, who’s desperate for airtime, who’s going broke – and much, much more!

No story too trivial or too outrageous! Start threads about stealing slogans, or the inherent meaning behind holding out a chair, getting emotional, coughing, sneezing – the possibilities are endless! Post your own groundless speculations about candidates, replace facts with innuendo, and fire away!

In addition, DUTV is now kid-friendly! Your pre-schoolers will have hours of fun browsing threads and learning childish new names to call their classmates – not to mention laughing at unattractive photos of candidates that used to only be available on Freeper sites! (Please note that children over the age of five may be too mature to find this stuff fascinating.)

Needless to say, there are still a few kill-joys who are insisting on intelligent discussion, factual news items, honest debate on issues – but their numbers are dwindling and the multiple-posting fun-lovers are managing to keep important items down to a minimum by filling up the board with the same idiotic and repetitive nonsense over, and over, and over.

Somebody had to say it. Just wondering if the trolls have had an effect. The primaries bring out the worst in people.
Choosing candidates for strategic reasons is not the same as choosing or rejecting them for some of the crap that's been posted and only serves to weaken the chances of the eventual nominee. What we can't afford is another Bush term and a 100 year war in Iraq. Let's cut down on the vitriol and get back to reasoned debate and frontal attacks on whoever the GOP puts up.

For those lucky few unfamiliar with GD: Primaries, this is an example of some of the milder nonsense there.

It helps to know that the post was dated January 29. I have edited the name of the poster's preferred candidate out. To be fair, no one candidate's supporters are responsible for all steer manure down there.

THE FAT LADY HAS SUNG: It's John McCain vs (my candidate) in November

Tonight, John McCain cemented his front-runner status. For (my candidate), s/he was always the front-runner, but Iowa changed the media story, but for a very short time. Both candidates poll very well going into Super Tuesday; it's a safe bet, (my candidate) vs McCain.

This was written before Super Tuesday. The nomination was still up in the air, and now that we're past Super Tuesday, it still is.

In 2002, I moderated the I/P Forum for six months. The mods on GD: Primaries have my sympathies.
