More on McCain v Obama / McCain v Clinton from NYT's Nicholas Kristof
Kristof: WHO IS MORE ELECTABLE?

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/07/opinion/07kristof.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=slogin

<snip>

When pollsters offer voters hypothetical matchups, Mr. Obama does better than Mrs. Clinton against Mr. McCain. For example, a Cook Political Report poll of registered voters released this week found Mr. McCain beats Mrs. Clinton, 45 percent to 41 percent. But Mr. Obama beats Mr. McCain, 45 percent to 43 percent. The latest Washington Post/ABC News poll found similar results.

Mr. Obama also has the highest approval rating of any major candidate among independents, 62 percent, according to a recent Pew Research Center poll. He also has unusually low negatives, which gives him upside potential.

Mr. Obama does surprisingly well among evangelical Christians, an important constituency in swing states. For example, Relevant magazine, which caters to young evangelicals, asked its readers: “Who would Jesus vote for?” Mr. Obama was the winner and came out 27 percentage points ahead of Mrs. Clinton.

<snip>

OK now what evidence on greater electability for Hillary Clinton do we have from her many supporters on DU, including swarms of Obama-bashers????

7. No, It's the non-profit Pew Reseach organization, and the Cook Report. Have you
ever seen any poll anywhere by anybody that shows Hill running stronger against McCain than Obama running agaginst McCaion?

I haven't.

2. The Hill supporters know she is more electable because they like her, and think everyone
else does also, or there is something wrong with those people who don't.

I haven't seen any empirical evidence that suggests Hill would be a stronger candidate. Only the faith of true believers.

I would conceed that it's an open question whether Hill can win the general.

However, there is a lot of evidence that Obama would be the better choice if the primary criteria is the Dems taking the Whitehouse in 08.

6. Polls are much more likely to be right when they form a consensus, which on ST they did not

10. If that's true, or even just significantly more PROBABLE -- what serious reason to support HRC ...
is there? Certainly not the difference in stated platforms.

The only corner left is simply the cry "Obama is a phony" which is essentially the trolls' whole case.
