I don't give a rat's ass if someone thinks I'm in a "cult" supporting Obama
To me, it's an "out of ammo" argument, usually perpetrated by people who are not very intelligent or curious.

Over the years, I've been "accused" of being in a "cult" in one form or another.

I use Apple Macintosh computers for the most part. I go to MacWorlds. People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

I went to see a number of Grateful Dead shows over the years and even was in some various Dead jam bands. People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

I went to see Frank Zappa when he was around and even went to Europe to follow his tour one year. I can sing Zappa songs with fellow Zappaheads. People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

I have been a vegetarian over the years and even was a diehard vegan for a little while. People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

I have designed many parts of my home with the firm design beliefs of Feng Shui. People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

Some knuckleheaded Republicans over the years have called me a commie socialist peacenik longhaired "Demoncrat". People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

I have done lots of grassroots work for Barack Obama and have travelled in a few states to help out in the campaign to make sure he is our next President. People have said to me that's "like being in a cult".

If "being in a cult" is really just choosing your passion and trying your best to make it as good as possible, I'm guilty.

2. Well I do give a rats ass about the OP
And these cult insults are laughable. I literally laugh at these hillary supporters who seem to think they can BULLY us into supporting their candidate. Their candidate is much like themselves actually. We're the davids and they're the goliath.

6. "We're the davids and they're the goliath."
That's what Goliath thought, too.

9. I find the embracing of faux nostalgia (that was actually bad for Democrats) blind allegiance

To be for the Clintons at this point in time in this country is beyond even being called being in a "cult".

It's like saying Kenny G is jazz.

5. "Out of ammo"? It appears to have hit you pretty good.
There have been dozens of threads like yours today -- "I'm proud to be an Obama cultist" etc.

Is it because of thin skin, or is the charge more accurate than it appears?

If you want to avoid the "cult" label, then don't engage in cultish behaviors, like writing gushing conversion stories, romantic poetry, chanting slogans in unison with hundreds of other Obama supporters, love-bombing, demonizing your opponents, and mindlessly repeating meaningless phrases.

If you can't take criticism -- make it disappear.

7. We live in a country where people go insane over actors and athletes
I can't figure, for the life of me, why a large number of people getting passionate about a Democratic Presidential candidate would be troublesome to people on this site. So what if they don't all know the issues inside and out? It's like that old movie line: If you build it, they will come. Obama is building it.

12. I join you. I don't give a flying fuck if they call me a cultist or some other foolish
crap. I'll support who I feel is the right person to support (Barack). To hell with anyone who doesn't like it.

13. I like Zappa. I'm a vegetarian. I've studied Feng Shui.
But the fierce and angry defense of Barack that I've seen in posts here and elsewhere on the Internet goes beyond passion.

Barack's supporters consistently refer to his detractors as unintelligent and variations thereof, basically belitting people in order to prove to themselves that their candidate is superior and therefore they must, by association, be superior as well.

Aren't you the one who gave a shoutout for people to meet you in Madison and "crash" a Hillary-supporting event at a bar, you were going to bring your video camera? That's the kind of over-the-top "passion" that makes people skeptical of the benefits of Barack's influence.

Of course, you edited your post when you saw the reaction and realized you had made a mistake. Your candidate has a habit of trying to cover his tracks, too.

14. About that "event"
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 08:04 AM by zulchzulu
People here apparently don't ever leave their little Dell laptops and go outside.

That debate party where I dared use the words "crash the party" were met with the usual puritanical, wild-eyed dweebs that seem to gather around the Hillaryworld pig swamp spitfully screeding that I don't have a right to go into a public place and display affection for my preferred candidate. How dare I express myself! That thread showed me just how obtuse most Hillaryworld supporters are.

As for you liking Zappa and being a Hillary fan, that is beyond comprehension.

Stick to your DLC pals. That's a cult if there ever was one.
