Wash. Gov. Gregoire Endorses Obama

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/02/wash-gov-gregoi.html

ABC News' Jake Tapper Reports: Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire will endorse Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, today, the day before the Washington Caucuses.

Gregoire's endorsement was hotly pursued by both Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY. She is a "super delegate," which means she is free to select any candidate she wishes to support. Super delegates make up one-fifth of the 4049 total delegates on the Democratic side.

Clinton has the backing of both US Senators from the state, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.

5. yeah, but it's a caucus state and he already has a lead there
despite the endorsements by Cantwell and Murray. This only helps him.

7. Caucus state, so the two senators' endorsements don't matter as much.

For actual primary elections, endorsements tend to help, because voters who don't know much about the candidates and don't keep up much with politics use the endorsers as guides. But in a caucus, all the people who are just following some endorser they know tend to fall out. They might vote, but don't care to put in the time needed to caucus.

Washington state could go either way, but I like Obama's chances.
