Based off of what we've seen so far, why should one believe Clinton could win in Nov?

I'm really interested in Clinton supporters thoughts on this. We've seen the once-epic juggernaut that was Hillary Clinton get absolutely throttled overall since the start of this year. A popular senator from the great state of New York, who was the wife of a *very* popular 2-term Democratic president and had all the name recognition in the world, is currently locked in a *fierce* contest with someone that was a little-known state senator just four years ago. Think about that for a second. Let that sink in. IF she does lose the nomination, it will be one of the biggest collapses in American political history.

If she has been this polarizing to Democrats to the extent that half of them have decided not to vote for her, just why do we think that she would have a chance against Senator McCain in November? If she's done this poorly among Democrats, just what will it be like when the Republicans get involved. I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I will support her if she manages to pull the nomination out, but I wouldn't be optimistic for her chances in November.

So what do you think? If she were to win, what would her strengths be? How would she be able to beat McCain?

Once Rudy dropped out in 2000, she sailed into office with only a minor opposition. Same deal in 2006.

Merely because many in our party aren't crazy about her. And center & conservative independents will not vote for her, and republicans will turn out in droves just to vote against her. People still think McCain is the straight talk guy from 8 years ago, which back then was far more appealing than today's version. I think people will vote against her, just because they don't want a repeat of bill and all the scandals that are sure to come.

ETA: And sorry to say, but many of the youth that Obama has energized will quickly become disillusioned, and just not show up to vote. Their heart won't be in it - and that's what has them there right now. So many of them are boots to the ground, campaigning for him - or no someone that is. Break their heart, break their will to care. They'll be back in 4 years to vote I'm sure, but at least for the next two, we can write many of them off.

We have seen the power those people weild. Hillary is unstoppable with them by her side.

12. Watch how quickly that the above mentioned will flock to McCain

Remember republicans toe the line and vote always republican, you are going to have a problem with white men going for McCain no mater which of the two you nominate. John Edwards matched up best with McCain, but I think Hillary can handle McCain...being a r epublican and working with republicans before she married Bill, she may be the one that can pull some conservative votes from McCain.

Personally I don't think she can do it.

However, being from the NY/NJ area I also thought that there was no way an unpopular first lady who was not from New York could show up, run for the senate seat and not only win just NYC but also upstate and Central NY as well. And she did it. And she won re-election even after 9/11.

So she must have done SOMETHING right in the 2000 campaign and then in her re-election. So while I still think she won't win against McCain I've underestimated her before and been wrong.

A lot of the folks I know down here do NOT like McCain, but would come out to vote against Hillary.
