Rasmussen daily graph for 2/8/08 - Clinton up 3 (47), Obama down 1 (43)
She's back in the lead! Let the shouting commence! Or continue.

In reality, they continue to bounce around within a narrow range, but it's still a lot closer than it was before the beginning of the month.

These graphs are all contained on one Web page at http://www.dvorkin.com/rastrack.html

Gallup now has a daily tracking poll graph: http://www.gallup.com/poll/104107/Gallup-Daily-Tracking-Election-2008.aspx

(Pretend that the 10 and 20 lines are actually 0. Does anyone know how to make Excel label different parts of the axis differently?)

7. I've been doing them every day
They usually slide way down pretty quickly, though, unless I remember to kick them. That may be why you've missed them.

22. I stopped posting it there, for the obvious reason
It still hurts. And I still fantasize about the Edwards line still being on the graph, at the top.

Even if it is just punching a few numbers in, still much appreciated!

9. Straight Shooter Don't get too excited
I've noticed Rasmussen has been way off this cycle. I hope it is accurate but I really doubt it. That said, seeing something like this makes me feel better. Thanks for posting. :)

6. Rasmussen Markets: Clinton 42.9, Obama 56.5
From the people that bet on the outcome.

Perhaps the polls should shift to the contests remaining. Wouldn't that be a better indicator?

10. Ack
It probably would be, but this is within my capabilities and energies.

Numbers for remaining states are scattered across a number of polling companies and Web sites. Perhaps they're being accumulated at pollingreport.com.

13. Thank you sharing... However,
My only issue is that these are nationwide polls, and 1/2 of the nation has already had their primaries, so it's deceptive as we go in to races coming up. I do understand it's keeping the pulse of the nation, but still *sigh* I think these will become more useful when we're comparing Dem Nominee to Puke Nominee, again - because we're 1/2 way through the primaries.

I do appreciate the time you put in to these though. It's nice seeing how things trend and flux.

23. Well, I'm now an Obama supporter
That was someone else who said that about responding to her message.

I want the cult to win!

More seriously, I'm an Obama supporter now, but I don't feel any passion about it -- not enough to post this in the Obama group. I don't even read that group. I still check the Edwards group.

25. I'll certainly support Clinton if she wins the nomination
I'll even send money!

My big fear is that she'd lose the election. Or if she did win, it would be narrowly. My judgment is that Obama would win big, and that's what we need.

Edwards would have won bigger. And his presidency would have been more to my liking. But the country didn't listen to me. It never does. And look at the result!

28. I first voted in 1964
LBJ vs. Goldwater.

I was a college student of the 1960s variety. I hated (and very rationally feared) the Vietnam war and the draft, but I voted for LBJ because I was sure Goldwater would be worse. I'm still sure I did the right thing.

So I've voted in a lot of national and local elections by now, and in the vast majority of them, my preferred candidate wasn't on the ballot. But I chose the least of the evils, or the best of those available, as the case may have been. I don't regret any of my votes.

My fellow liberals often rejected that position and either didn't vote at all or voted for a third-party candidate. In 1968, that gave us the vile Nixon. In 1980, that helped give us the viler Reagan. In 2000, that contributed to giving us the vilest of all, Bush.

I'm more convinced than ever that I did the right thing in the past, when I voted for the best, or least objectionable, Democrat. I'll continue to do that.
