Senator Obama's base

-African Americans

-Affluent whites

-Whites who have attended college or beyond

-The young

Senator Clinton's base

-Latinos

-Single women

-Working class whites

-The elderly

We need all these groups to win and not only do we need all these groups to win but the combination of these groups offer the Democrats the chance to build a coalition as strong and enduring as the coalition that Franklin Roosevelt built that endured for nearly forty years...

Both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton and their ardent supporters must be treated fairly...The Democrats can not go into the Fall election with one half the party thinking their say had been ignored and they were "screwn"... The election is bigger than the ambitions of Senator Clinton and Senator Obama...The election is larger than our internecine squabbles... The nation is ill and it needs to be healed....

I pray for a unity ticket regardless of the order and shudder for the prospects of our party and our nation if it does not occur...
