6. If they don't respond, then the republicons will con everyone
with the continued repeating of this meme.
Repeat anything enough times and people believe it to be true

8. Old school and it hurt Kerry on '04
The swift-boating of Kerry in 04 with no response was repeated until enough people believed it to make the election close enough that we can't prove without a doubt that they didn't steal the election.

They both must come out and nip it now.

23. Where's the "group" that's gonna do this? I've never seen such political naivete in my life.
Don't you understand WHO said that, and WHY?

Mittsy the Shittsy said it, on a flag draped stage with perfect makeup, a fine suit, a great haircut and fantastic lighting--and he's wanting to USE it--FOUR YEARS from now--in a campaign commercial.

FOR HIS CAMPAIGN.

He doesn't want to HELP McCain. Jesus!!!

He wants to CRUSH McCain, four years from now, or "Any Generic Democrat" if the Dem gets the White House.

His DIRE WARNING will work if there's ANY terrorism, ANYWHERE, between now and the next election. It's vague enough to fit any occasion.

:eyes:

Some people, like Mittsy, take the LONG view. He knows he's fucked now, he hopes to come back in four with a message of "I WARNED YOU!!!! I TOLDJA SO!!!!"

This is the only place I've seen this particular "Be Very Afraid--they're gonna be MEEEAN to us" theme.

25. Explain why this comment form Mitt
and how bu$h made similar comments this AM

If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

26. Forestall the launch of a national campaign.
McCain's national campaign. Not Mitt's. UNLESS someone invites him along for a ride.

It's a NO-LOSE scenario for Mitt.

One of two things can happen, here, in Mitt's view:

Scenario ONE: Mitt goes home, cries in his milk, and uses his speech as a campaign ad in 2012. He can claim that

    --McCain fucked up
    --Clinton fucked up
    --Obama fucked up

depending on who wins this year. It'll work for ANY of 'em. (I trusted McCain, he let us DOWN; Obama is the devil; Clinton is Satan, name your poison).

Scenario TWO: McCain picks Mitt as his RUNNING MATE. That makes the conservatives happy, but pisses off the evangelicals--unless they can find a way to bring Huckie into the administration, and promise him a REALLY good job, EARLY on, if he actively campaigns for the ticket.

But Mitt is not going to give away "HIS theme" for nuthin'. If he's not ON the ticket, that boat won't float.

Bush's theme isn't 'terra' so much as it's  PEACE and PROSPERITY!!! How fucking....HOOVERESQUE!!!

I think the homeless Iraq vets oughta start camping out on the mall in DC!!!

18. Not the same thing, at all.
A failed candidate gave a speech with a throwaway line.

That speech, and that candidate, are now YESTERDAY's news.

Why do you want to dig it up? What's the point?

If a well-organized group starts in with that shit, well, they bring a knife, we bring a gun.

But until they do, why flog that dead horse? Why point to it, shriek in fear, and clutch the pearls?

They aren't setting the agenda here, WE are. They've got to answer to eight years of misery and failure.

It has worked in the past, so they are certain to try it again.

24. No, they won't. The only ones who would want to try it are the arch-conservatives,
and they're saving it for 2012, when Mittsy returns and his "warning" is broadcast again as a campaign commercial.

Mitt isn't gonna give away his "TERRA TERRA TERRA" brand to help McCain. He HATES the guy.

11. They should respond by citing the myriad ways in which destructive Bush policies...
have aided the cause of terrorism over the last seven years (getting troops out of Afghanistan before we caught Bin Laden, creating a terrorist wet dream in Iraq, etc., etc.)

12. 286 delegates. $40 million of his money spent. Oh, he's good!
That's what they should say. A guy spends $140,000 per delegate, and he still can't buy the nomination.

I'd talk about that and make fun of him for being so terrible at business and politics.

Terror allegations? Just say "apparently he was water boarded, and threatened with rendition."

Obama had harsh words in response to Romney's accusation that Democrats were "surrendering to terrorists," saying "It's a classic attempt to appeal to people's fears that will not work in this campaign. And I think that's part of the reason he was such an ineffective candidate,"

14. A true patriot
A true lover of America would proclaim loud and clear that despite our differences politically, whoever sits in the WHite House will be strong against the agents of terror. On that we are united.

A true patriot would not use terror to demonize other Americans.

A true patriot would not attempt to polarize his own country.

A true patriot would not do the work of the terrorists for them by dividing this country for political gain.
