Washington Governor Gregoire Endorses Obama

Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire told the Associated Press this morning that she is endorsing fellow Democrat Barack Obama for president.

The news comes just one day before the state's presidential caucuses.

"He is leading us toward a positive feeling of hope in our country and I love seeing that happen," Gregoire said, according to the wire service. "I believe the nation faces significant challenges domestically and internationally and Obama is the person who has the ability to reach across artificial divides and move our national forward. Barack is that kind of leader."

2. That was the buzz yesterday. I'm disappointed.

This state has done very well with its top three elected officials being women.

However, I'm not sure how much weight this endorsement will carry. I think that Governor Gregoire is doing a fantastic job and she consistently is voted as one of the top governors by her peers. I like her. But there are still a lot of people who (wrongly) don't think she won the election and to some extent, she has not been as popular as she deserves.
