I have nothing whatsoever against Barack Obama, it is simply as I have said many times, that I am convinced
America won't elect an African American president. I know that opinion is not widely shared here in DU but I submit we are NOT representative of Democrats in general and FAR from representative of the electorate at large. There are a lot more blue-dog and Dixiecrat Democrats than a lot of us are willing to recognize or admit. Anyway here's the letter from Wes, I'm sure he doesn't mind me sharing it:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Karl,

Today, it's time to act again. But alone, I am just a single voice. So I am asking you to add your voice to mine. To help me send a message that our time is now. That we must act now to fix all that this administration has broken. That Hillary is the leader we need.

Please add your voice to mine. Contribute to Hillary's campaign today!

Last Tuesday, more than 15 million Americans voted in Democratic primaries and caucuses across 22 states. In fact, Democrats outnumbered Republicans on Super Tuesday by a nearly 2-to-1 margin. It was an astounding display of democracy and a testament to the passion of Democrats and like-minded independents in this year's presidential primary.

As you know, I'm supporting Hillary Clinton for President. I could list countless reasons why, but I think one story about Hillary sums it all up.

After the war in Kosovo was over, she and the President flew in to meet the troops. I watched her engage with the privates, sergeants and the colonels. She knew the issues, she knew the personal aspects and she had their respect. In my talk with her, I could see she had followed the issues closely and was well in-tune with the military and diplomatic requirements. She could have been the Commander-in-Chief.

This race couldn't be closer -- and the stakes for our country couldn't be higher. Hillary is going to need millions of dollars to compete in the upcoming states, so I'm asking you to join me. Already, 75,000 people have contributed to Hillary since Super Tuesday. The time to act is now. Please contribute to Hillary today!

Just think about what George W. Bush is leaving behind for the next President. Imagine walking into the Oval Office with a weakening economy, a broken health care system, fractured relationships with nations across the world, and of course, the mess in Iraq.

There is one candidate I know who can deal with these challenges right from Day One: Hillary Clinton.

The qualities I saw in Hillary that day in Kosovo are what we need today: Wisdom, compassion, intelligence, and moral courage.

I believe in Hillary deeply. I need you to stand with me -- right now. Make a contribution to Hillary's campaign today.

I spent 34 years in uniform because I love our country. After I retired, I saw this president take us needlessly into Iraq only to watch as our men and women in uniform made sacrifices while the war architects in the White House made none. I couldn't stand on the sidelines and do nothing.

In 2003, with your support, I ran for president. And though we were not successful, I know that our voices together made a difference.

Today, it's time to act again. But alone, I am just a single voice. So I am asking you to add your voice to mine. To help me send a message that our time is now. That we must act now to fix all that this administration has broken. That Hillary is the leader we need.

Please add your voice to mine. Contribute to Hillary's campaign and help her reach voters across America.

Thank you for your support over all these years. It heartens me to know that we are still connected -- fighting for what is right for our families, our country, and our future. And that we are still united by something I said several years ago: We can do better. We will do better. And we will do it together.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

1. What I particularly like is that Clark talked up Clinton without having to bash Obama...
or his supporters. Classy.

6. Wes Clark is a hypocrite. He slammed Lieberman about his Iran position
and then fails to pull his endorsement from Clinton after she voted for Kyl/Lieberman.

I lost a lot of respect for him as a result.

Joe Lieberman is at it again
Wes Clark | June 12, 2007

After wrongly supporting George W. Bush’s strategic blunder of attacking Iraq, and continuing to support Bush’s failed policies after the invasion, Senator Joe Lieberman made irresponsible comments this weekend regarding military action against Iran.

On CBS’s Face the Nation, Lieberman said, “If don’t play by the rules, we’ve got to use our force, and to me, that would include taking military action to stop them from doing what they’re doing.”

This type of “tough-talk” by the Bush Administration and folks like Senator Joe Lieberman is why VoteVets.org and I collaborated to create StopIranWar.com, calling for heavy diplomatic, economic, and political action to discourage the acquisition of nuclear capabilities by the Iranian government.

Over 40,000 people have signed our petition to President Bush, urging him to work with our allies and use every diplomatic, political, and economic option at our disposal to deal with Iran. Add your name to the petition today at StopIranWar.com. Now urge all of your friends and family to do the same.

Senator Lieberman’s saber rattling does nothing to help dissuade Iran from aiding Shia militias in Iraq, or trying to obtain nuclear capabilities. In fact, it’s highly irresponsible and counter-productive, and I urge him to stop.

This kind of rhetoric is irresponsible and only plays into the hands of President Ahmadinejad, and those who seek an excuse for military action. What we need now is full-fledged engagement with Iran. We should be striving to bridge the gulf of almost 30 years of hostility and only when all else fails should there be any consideration of other options. The Iranians are very much aware of US military capabilities. They don’t need Joe Lieberman to remind them that we are the militarily dominant power in the world today.

Only someone who never wore the uniform or thought seriously about national security would make threats at this point. What our soldiers need is responsible strategy, not a further escalation of tensions in the region. Senator Lieberman must act more responsibly and tone down his threat machine.

We cannot let people like Joe Lieberman dictate the terms of this debate

9. I guess you haven't been paying attention... Kyl Lieberman .. HRC voted for it.
Authorizes the use of military force from within Iraq to stop "terrorism" coming from Iran..etc.

Co-Sponsored by Joe Lieberman...

Clark - fought Joe Lieberman on Iran up until Hillary voted on Kyl-Lieberman

attacks on lieberman's stance have now stopped....

Hmmm...wonder why?

14. 28 Dem Senators voted for it. Obama didn't even bother to show up.
That's not much better.

10. He didn't lose my support, I think he's a great statesman. Did everyone else that voted for Kyl-
Lieberman lose your support?

2. Wes Clark owes his career to the Clintons...so this is expected
I like Wes Clark too, but to think that this was a tough endorsement for him would be silly.

4. It is so funny to watch: when Clinton gets a great endorsement, there is some underlying motive
if Obama gets and endorsement, there are parades and singing in the streets.

Just maybe, Clark thinks she is best for the job.

11. I don't care one way or the other about endorsements
But Wes Clark has been on the Clinton team forever. To me, this is the same as a Chelsea endorsement.

13. I believe that Clark thinks Hillary will be a good president
I think she will be fine too.

I just don't think it took much soul-searching on his part.

sorry Clark doesn't owe his career to the Clintons.
In 1975 He was already a White House fellow to the OMB.

He knows the Clintons and his friendship with them was no doubt part of why he endorse Sen. Clinton but Clark didn't become a 4 star general because of them.

3. Gen Clark is great.
I sat across the aisle from him on a flight out of DC once and got to chat with him some. I came away so impressed with him.

That said, looks like he won't be bucking for a job in an Obama administration.
