Remember when we had a minimum of three sentences...?
in a post? Would that be appropriate at this time? Granted, it would not slow it down very much. But it might slow down the one-line snide remarks with n/t? Also, it might require just a little more thinking before hitting the post button?

1. I would applaud it
especially when I go to threads only to find a url with little or not explanation as to what it is. If we want real discussion, we need more than a couple of words. I don't see it as a handicap.

4. Presumably, you mean "in a post that starts a thread", because I can write very pithy replies. (NT)

5. Yes.
A post that starts a thread should be worth at least 3 sentences, in my opinion.

8. That was a requirement at one time...
And it seemed to work quite well...at least, for a while.

15. You have a point, the quality of the dialog has defintely decreased.

I have something of a predisposition to snark. Sorry.

I agree with you, a three sentence rule would improve the ability of the occasional post into which people have put some thought to stay on a page longer than a few brief minutes.

I didn't count the sentences that time.

7. That should be enforced again
and mnost importantly, a limit on how many new threads a person can start in a given time period.

A handful of spammers really drag this place down.

12. I don't remember that, maybe I wasn't here yet.
But it would be nice to have a one paragraph minimum.

Those "Did you see that?" subject lines bring out the presentation nazi in me.

13. Welcome to the Club of DU'ers who see the quality of the forum diminishing.
Actually, it really is only a very small handful of posters who have a compulsion (yes, that is the correct word) to start a new thread every time a single thought passes through their attention-deficient brains.
