Democrats ought not have to think about how to pick up states we've been losing to make up for losing states we've been winning like Pennsylvania.

Kerry barely won Pennsylvania. Obama would probably lose it.

1. Why would Obama be more likely to lose it than Hillary?

Another of your posts without any logic or arguments whatsoever.
PA will be a disputed state whoever is the nominee. Welcome to the real world.

22. Reagan Democrats would come anywhere close to marking Hillary's name on the ballot.
Puh-lease.

12. Kerry would be in WH today if McAuliffe had secured election process after 2000s theft.
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 03:01 PM by blm
Anyone wonder why McAuliffe would not do that during his four year stewardship?

16. Funny how the Shillbots are all silent on the issue of election theft.
They must suffer from the delusion that it can't happen to Hillary Clinton.

21. P2B doesnt have to have anything but one line spam. For some reason, P2B is allowed
to break the rules on this board day after day after day by spamming continually with absolutely nothing but flamebait.

5. Any Dem would lose it
A simple analysis would suggest that the pool of votes available for Democrats in Pennsylvania is shrinking. It's not like, then, that Obama or Clinton could win it. However, if there are more complicated trends at work, please reveal your data to us.

7. No way, PA is solid blue this year.
Four years ago we took PA. The climate is much more in our favor now and we take it by a wider margain.

I can't think of a single state Kerry won that either Clinton or Obama can't win.

But I really get excited when I start thinking about the progress Obama could make in states that went red in 2004. Not so much with HRC.

14. I'm probably going to get flamed for this...
But here goes anyway...

I think Pennsylvania and Ohio are going to have a lot more trouble with Obama's race than the deep south.

At least in the deep south, there is a counterbalance for the racism in that there is a large African American population. The nonracist and the African Americans outnumber the racists. In states like OH and PA and Indiana, there isn't that counterbalance.

Anyone know the most active states Stormfront and other racist groups operate in?

PA, Ohio, (southern) IL, Indiana and MO cut a swath filled with hate groups right across the old Mason Dixon line.

Souther Poverty Law center does a pretty good accounting of the hate groups out there. It's kind of scary there are so many.

17. All of that is true of course, and some of the reluctance won't even be about race alone
They could probably get over race if the candidate was a Colin Powell. They won't trust or "get" an untested fad candidate like Obama especially on national security but also on the economy.

20. People were sick of Reps when Bill ran - three terms of Rep Presidents.
Bush was a lousy candidate, and he had taken a Rep Senator of Pa out of office to make him is Atty Gen; a Dem then won the seat.

I think we're looking at that kind of situation now: there's Republican fatigue out there.
