Brokaw as Kerry's running mate?
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 08:33 AM by Finnfan
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/magazine/daily/8138519.htm

When Tom Brokaw walked into NBC's daily editorial meeting yesterday, his producer addressed him as "Mister Vice President."

Buzz has surfaced again about Brokaw entering politics, and this one's a doozy. In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, staffer John Fund suggests him as Democrat John Kerry's vice-presidential running mate.

"I think he has it backwards," says Bucks County native Steve Capus, exec producer of Brokaw's NBC Nightly News. "It should be Brokaw-Kerry. A Brokaw administration would be fascinating to watch."

Don't start punching your ballots yet.

Has this rumor bounced around DU yet? Although he denies interest, I can't think of a single reason why this non-story would be picked up by a major newpaper, even in the entertainment section. Then again, I thought Brokow was a Republican, so that shows what I know.

2. I sincerely hope this isn't even being considered.
Brokaw, I've heard, is fairly liberal. But I can't imagine what would add more fuel to the fire of the "liberal media" mantra than for a national media figure to run for Veep.

11. Montana
though I think he was born in South Dakota.

If he wants to get into politics he can go back to Montana and run for Senate the next time the Rethug is up.

Mr. "Clinton's evil due to his assualt on Family Values" who dates, beats and gets pregnant the daughter of a former paramour... yet continues to make hay on the WSJ oped page.

oops forget the kicker... on edit add "gets pregnant the daughter (who has an abortion) of a former paramour..."

6. If John Fund can give "advice" to John Kerry
Can I give advice to George Bush?

Dump Cheney - he's a liability. Pick Bob Dornan as your running mate.

12. How 'bout Brokaw for Press Secretary?
it would be a step down for him, but if he really wants to enter politics... under Kerry's orders, his influence could help corporate media be less brash - at the least.
