I Love The Smell Of Hypocrisy In The Afternoon
When Rush Limbaugh implied Chelsea looked like a dog many on the left wanted his scalp...Now David Schuster has implied she's a prostitute and many here want to give him a medal...

Carry on...

What would the response be if he said the exact same words about Obama and his wife?

and we all know about HIS comment about Chelsea years ago (which also was an insult to Hillary). Hypocrisy indeed.

8. Big difference between a comment about a 13-yr-old and a comment about an adult...
What Schuster said is appalling.... but there's a big difference between attacking a grown woman and attacking a 13-yr-old.

10. Bullshit. Most Obama supporters have weighed in loud and
clear about how disgusting Schuster's comment was. I for one have no problem with his being suspended for it. And you know what hypocrisy is? It's being selectively outraged. Something you do constantly.

but try grasping that what I said is that I think it's appropriate that he was suspended for his noxious comments. I condemned him for it. Use your one or two functional brain cells to realize that I'm doing anything but being sexist.

21. The Last Time You Made A Baseless Charge I Asked You To Provide Proof And You Couldn't...
I eschew all bigoted remarks and that's why I called for the resignation of Al Campanis, Jimmy The Greek, Fuzzy Zoeller, and Don Imus...

There's a rather large group here that believes only one form of bigotry should be eschewed and all the others ignored as if bigotry was a smorgasbord where you get to choose which ones you like and which ones you don't...

Either all forms of bigotry are abhorent or none of them are...

22. Exactly right, Cali.
Give him a medal??? Please, I would love for the OP to point to the legions of Obama supporters who now wish to award Schuster with a medal for saying something so derogatory. I'm waiting...

Schuster is an ace reporter, and one of the rare outspoken liberal reporters in mainstream television. He said something profoundly offensive and will pay dearly for it in goodwill and reputation. He has apologized once this morning, and will do so again this evening.

He should not be fired for his flippant, foolish remark. He should instead get back to work, preferably back to Morning Joe where he takes that true asshat Joe Scarborough to the woodshed every single day.

32. Everyone who works at MSNBC knows the drill. He probably thought
he was keeping within the bounds of their already out of bounds coverage of GE's version of our primaries.

OOps! He stepped over! If Hillary had not called him on it, he would not even bother to think about what he said and would most likely escalate the next attack.

Just like Tweety and the other scumbags, he thought he would get a bonus and plenty pats on the back from his bosses and partners in crime.

11. that was different
hillary is running against obama...so whatever horrible thing that's said about the clintons is ok
from reading some of the posts here you'd think the clintons were bush family republicans.
apparently bill was a horrible president...and hillary is a terrible senator....just bush-lite
i just thank god obama has been out there all these years fighting the good fight.
i mean he keeps pleading for hope and change....so i guess it's our own fault if we don't change right now....or wait maybe it's hillarys fault

12. The complacency some have shown at the Dem coverage in general
is amazing. But as long as their particular candidate looks good, people don't complain.

The MSM have created the race, not simply reported it.

I must not be understanding you correctly.

What Schuster said is disgusting- but you cannot be calling Hillary's vote an "irrelevant" one-

are you?

Please say it isn't so-

hundreds of thousands of dead people isn't irrelevant.

And if you don't think her vote mattered- why do any of ours matter?

peace~

C'mon, we've been screaming about her stupid vote for years, but it is in no way related to Shuster calling the lovely Chelsea a fucking whore.

That's why I used the term 'ignoranus' which translates to 'ignorant ass hole'

he should be reprimanded. No parent should have to listen to a media pundit accusing them of pimping their child.

19. well.....
without excusing the comment, which I won't do, it isn't exactly the same. First, Chelsea was a child at the time Limbaugh insulted her. Now, she's a grown woman actively campaigning for a political candidate. Second, Limbaugh's comment was personal. Schuster's comment was about her political activities.

Also, no one can think that Schuster was implying she was an actual prostitute. Saying she was being pimped out does imply that she's being a whore, but not a sexual whore. Whore is often used colloquially these days to refer to anyone who gives up their dignity for gain (e.g., "fame whore").

That said, it was a low comment and he should be reprimanded/punished for it.

31. I agree
People on this board seem to love getting outraged.

It was a low comment and he should apologize but I don't know what else people expect. He is an excellent reporter but not a good pundit or show host. He has said things against Obama that I didn't agree with either and felt he was taking the low road. I mentioned this on this board not long ago but got some people who wouldn't consider it.

Now you have people who were strongly in Schuster's corner a couple of weeks ago who are now ready to see him fired.
