Anybody else see that? Obama Rally!
He's in the middle of a rousing speech - he sees a young ladyy that isn't feeling weel. He stops and asks if she is okay. Tells he she will be alright. Makes peeps in the audience go get her a chair and ask for an EMT in the audience to take care of her. In the middle of a campaign speech!

Sigh

Reading DU is a nicer experience with a liberal use of the Ignore User function. I've plonked out two more losers today.

14. I'm In A Fine Mood.
You are that excited over this? It was definitely nice on his part, but I'd expect ANY of our candidates to do the EXACT same thing. Is the bar of being impressed so low for you that all a candidate has to do is show concern for a sick audience member? It's called human decency. I'd hope every one of our candidates would've reacted the same way.

Oh wait... Let me guess... You just KNOW Hillary wouldn't have done that, right?

And please, learn how to use spell check. It would benefit us all greatly.

70. how you changed the subject from Hillary's very real and deadly
sins in Iraq to Obama's voting for funding - which I agreed with Kucinich on - don't fund.
but this is what we have now.

and of the two I think Hillary's judgement should be a little harsher. I think she should be forced to watch Iraq videos of flesh flying around and see what she has helped to wrought.

anyone who helped launch this sickening mass murder should be forced to do that.

the iraqi's have suffered far too much for far too long. Starting with Bush 1, Clinton for 8 years, Bush2 for 8 years,
and probably 8 more years if Hillary cheats her way in.

You really should. He discusses Obama's behavior when a similar incident happened in NH and why that's part of the reason he endoresed him. It's more complex than that, and it's a really interesting read.

49. Bill McKibben: The strange case of the swooning co-ed
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 05:22 PM by Satyagrahi
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/2/3/9431/41821/720/448788

I’d gone to hear Barack Obama speak, the first time I’d heard him in person. It was breakfast time, at Dartmouth, and so he wasn’t in full dazzle mode. (In fact, his wife gave a better talk). But at some point in his oration, when he was going pretty strong, a college student down front swooned--fainted dead away.
Obama saw it happen, and he had people clear a space for her so that the EMT could get through with a stretcher. And then, for the ten minutes it took to get her out of there, he did something unusual: nothing.

Twice he told the crowd: ‘I can see her arms moving, she’s going to be okay. Don’t worry.’ But other than that he stood on stage, arms folded, watching intently as the medics worked on her. No nervous jokes, no drama, no crack about health insurance. For ten long minutes he was perfectly okay with not being the center of attention—with the attention being where it should have been, on the young woman on the stretcher. When she was wheeled out, he resumed where he’d left off, and it took me awhile to realize that I could think of very few politicians who would have behaved the same way. Who didn’t need to be the focus at all times.

Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 05:21 PM by Onlooker
Every little decent thing he does because magnified a hundred times. Any normal human being upon seeing someone suffering would pause as necessary.

Of course, if Clinton did it (and she probably has), the Obamatons would say it was a calculated moment.

Obama can still be your candidate without worshiping him. Please stop the worship. It's rather embarrassing for those of us who support him merely because we recognize he's better than Clinton, but certainly no saint.
