1. Is it actually possible to reliably poll one group of people about the views of another group?
I think we can assume we don't have many Reagan Dems here, if we have any at all.

I wasn't thinking in terms of who the poll-voter supports.

I agree there are few Reagan Democrats here.

5. you left out Huckabee

I suspect that most of Huck's supporters who were voters at that time were Democrats. Most working class people were Democrats.

The party left the people behind and the Repubs picked up the pieces with hollow promises and appeals to tradition, some of which were less than savory. The Democratic Party acted like it didn't care, still does.
