David Shuster should apologize to Chelsea Clinton IN PERSON
He needs to or I'm afraid MSNBC's next move is to fire him like they did Imus. If the Clinton camp puts pressure on MSNBC they will throw him under the bus

2. The Clintons don't let reporters talk to Chelsea, that's why he was upset in the first place.
They wanted to protect her, but only so much - it was OK to do rallies, etc., but not talk to reporters. I think the contradictions in that - they want to protect her, but they want her to campaign - is probably what led him to his stupid comments.

children in the last election. Double standard now?

38. Did the Bush Twins talk to reporters? Does Obama allow his little girls to speak to reporters?
Why is it that Shuster is so concerned about who Chelsea talks to. She's not running for President. And, if she doesn't want to speak to the press it's her right not to.

Shuster was trying to stir up something in a very offensive way.

I sure wouldn't want to meet with random sexist jerks so they can attempt to redeem their reputation at my inconvenience.

17. 10/31/06 she jumped on the right wing smear bandwagon.
She implied that he really did say the troops are stupid (he didn't by any stretch), when she could have defended him OR simply wimped out with "no comment".

She knifed him to take him down. Or, she is incredibly stupid to respond the way she did. Either person is not who I want in the White House.

Her refusals to talk to the press are how this how thing started.

41. I think anyone doing surrogate speaking for a candidate is in limits
When she was in Iowa on the road with her mother and grandmother, I would say she was off-limits, as she wasn't doing the campaigning. But now she is part of the campaign, and she should be able to take Q's from the press.

I'm not familiar with the extent to which Kate Edwards was involved in her father's campaign. But I would hold the same standard.

Any additional apologies from Shuster are just going to be even more distracting from the important issues. He's said he's sorry, now I hope his employer can forgive him for two words that came out of his mouth.

He said what he said on TV. An apology on TV is enough. I don't imagine she particular wants to meet with him in person and she shouldn't have to.

21. Why? He didn't say anything derogatory about her; criticized her parent's tactics.
It was in poor taste and shouldn't have been said and he's apologized. He's one of the best reporters out there and if Hillary and her campaign has their way, he'll never work again. Ludicrous.

25. Exactly!
The whole discussion was silly, inappropriate, superficial banter of the kind Tucker does all the time. But the pimping comments were questioning Hillary's use of her daughter. Idiotic comment. The only potential insult to Chelsea the way I see it, was in the implication that she is her mom's and dad's puppet. She is a grown woman, for crying out loud.

I saw his apology on Tucker a bit earlier. Short and cringe-inducing. Complimenting the CLintons on how they raised their daughter among other awkward things.

32. didn't we
didn't we mercilessly make fun of Romney's kids for Romney saying they were helping the country by campaigning for him.

I'm sure chickenhawk comments were everywhere.

But that we can do because we don't like Romney?

Chelsea is almost 28 years old. If she was offended by the comment, why doesn't she go on TV and explain it? Does she still
need to be "off limits" at 28? 38? 48?

Like Bush, the Clintons never apologize for anything. And like Bush, the Clintons expect everyone to apologize to them for even a slight.
