$500,000 in 2007 for parking? Seriously Clinton?
Those are some slick money management skills.

Actually, I'd be interested to compare odd expenses like this for all major candidates, if for no other reason than to prove even more strongly that campaign spending is soooooo far out of control, on all sides.

26. Here ya go
Obama's expenditures - http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/expend.asp?id=N00009638&cycle=2008

Hillary's - http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/expend.asp?id=N00000019&cycle=2008

You have to click in each sub section then go thru the records 25 at a time. There is no search feature and its a pain in the ass but its the best we have.

But as you can see the format makes research for specific expenses difficult.

14. there's just no telling
Booze, partying, hotel rooms, charges for movies in the room, whatever they don't want showing up on an official report.

I am familiar with the habits of some of the Clinton mafia members, and let's just say standard procedure is to play fast and loose with the money, and say whatever it takes to skate by.

12. Why is it you can't click on Obama's to see the
breakdown on each category?

And where do you see $500,000 for parking?

Hillary spent in Travel $7,795,192

Barack spent in travel $45,982,064

We can't see the breakdown of how his travel money was spent.

23. The parking number was on Hardball. And your travel $ for Obama is off.
$8,411,879 for Obama, the 45mil figure you have is the total for all candidates.

I don't think 500,000 is outrageous. Neither did Tweety when he mentioned it, it was just one of those Number of the Day things before heading off to commercial. You have a lot of staff or volunteers in a city, you need to reimburse a shitload of parking receipts. Nothing strange about that.

16. it is all valet parking for a lot of people who dont want to stand around in the open for obvious
reasons, they have to rent cars where ever they go, chauffeurs have to wait and pick them up, they leave their cars in airports, there are a lot of people in a lot of places, it could add up wits insurance and all..

17. I read in the paper today that the Obama campaign spent $352 on Dunkin Donuts
during the last three mos of '07. For some reason, I found that highly amusing.

It was part of a list of misc. expenses his campaign had racked up.

Damn their coffee & fritters.

In other news... I noticed several Obama pictures, that he brings DD to the support staff & workers. I noticed another candidate took Krispy Kreme once, can't remember who though.

And I appreciate the OP's request for more information to compare all candidates, but some people here never get past the title of the OP and recommend based on that. Sometimes they even get tricked, and that IS humorous.

25. Here is a link:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/07/AR2008020704233_2.html

During Clinton's 2006 Senate race, several high-ranking aides voiced concerns about loose financial controls over such things as office supplies and advertising. The current campaign appears to be run more frugally, with headquarters in Virginia rather than on K Street. But the campaign's latest reports still show unusual expenditures, such as nearly $500,000 last year for parking costs.

It also says:
A review of both campaigns' financial filings show they aggressively spent money last year. Both spent more than $80 million before heading into the January primary season, including similar amounts on travel and events.
