We need to raise the Voting age to 30 for democracy's sake
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 07:44 PM by Flabbergasted
?v=0">Look at this crap

These kids don't know a damn thing about the world, politics or anything in between.

Yeah, Yeah, I know we've been complaining about youth turnout for years, but now that they're voting en-mass for Obama I don't think it's such a great idea.

These children need to learn about the status quo before they vote. They know nothing about such important matters as cynicism. They're getting all their information from their friends, and frankly that's just wrong.

We cannot let these political newbies into the process.

Join me in raising the voting age to 30.

:sarcasm:

I'd be here all day spamming up the board if I did.

I try not to kick the crap up either. But this one was bothering me.

We need to get everyone we can into the political process.

I am excited that the young people are getting involved. I'm a bit perturbed at some of the inflammatory posting of some Obama supporters, but in the larger picture - I'd be thrilled if the young folks end up being largely responsible for ensuring that Obama is the nominee. They are the future and I will respect their decision if that's how it turns out!

43. Let's also get rid of all the old people that might have Alzheimer's
and not know what the F*** they are voting for? While we're at it...maybe not let in all the handicapped because one of them might not be up to snuff mentally? Oh hell, Maybe we should just let the 40-60 crowd vote!

If I need to use the sarcasm thingie then you qualify as too old or too young or mentally handicapped...so be gone with you and don't let the door.....................!

5. I hope you forgot your sarcasm emoticon.
Because otherwise this post would be a general attack on a group of people- those under 30, and would therefore not be looked on kindly.

7. Thats silly! Then wouldn't the 30 year olds be "political newbies" too?
If we keep pushing up the age everyone will be political newbies..
and they can go fight in war but not vote?

41. Well, basically they were. Not physically rounded up, but they had to go.
The mandate was when the life-clock starts blinking, at age 30, you report to carousel and get zapped. People who tried to run away were hunted down and killed by Sandmen.

26. I have no problem with anybody of any age voting
What I have a problem with is people of a certain age threatening violence or near violence towards their elders (which has been done numerous times here) just because they aren't getting their way or they "want their turn". Funny how people are shitting all over HRC because she or her supporters allegedly believe that it's "her turn" for the presidency yet people right here believe they have some god-given right to run the country.

If people are going to act like petulant brats that's when they're going to be treated like such, and I say this as someone who is not even of the "Boomer generation" they're railing against.
