Obama's people are CHILDREN!
I'm one of those older white ladies who's supposed to be supporting Hillary. So today I stop by to sign a petition to get an Obama delegate seated--Pennsylvania requires signatures, apparently. And everyone there was young. Really young. Like probably-still-in high-school young. These are kids!

I feel so old.

3. Why would it be anything but a cause for celebration that so many young people are so active
in our process?

Why should that threaten anyone else, or turn them off? Isn't that EXACTLY what we want in our Democracy? Haven't we been complaining for YEARS about the apathetic youth, and general low voter turnout?

Unbelievable that Clinton supporters want to turn this type of success into something scary or creepy.

4. I'm 48
I did an Obama phone bank last week and out of the 15 or so there almost all of us were 40+ women. There was a single guy there and he was around 30. Not a child in sight.

5. A new generation of Democrats. If he wins just think
of how long it will take the Repukes to win anything back. The White House or Congress.

18. Exactly! This is exactly what we want as Democrats.
Not someone who will help the DLC push progressives out of the party, and give it all back in 4-8 years.

11. If you didn't know how old you were, how old would you be?? Probably
younger than you think. You are only as old as you believe you are and not a day older. I think it's great that Obama has young supporters, there have been highly regarded teachers down through the ages who were very much taken with children and their perspectives on life and the world.

22. Here's my story...
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 08:09 PM by jeffrey_X
I'm a 39 year old white male from Chicago who is a vice president of marketing for a small software company. My wife and I make more than $200,000 combined per year. She is African American and has her Doctorates in Clinical Psychology.

We have followed Barack since 2003 after hearing about him locally and then reading his first book. We were drawn to his background of community volunteering, grass roots organization and unique experience as a human being. We felt there was something special about him 5 years ago.

What's happening to him now is the one thing I worried about when he decided to run for President. I expected his character to be assassinated by the right, but I didn't expect what I've seen over the past six weeks from within his own party.

It's sad really.

23. I'm 51, my dad is 88 (WWII vet), my mom is 80
and we all caucused for Obama.

My mom said that at their caucus there was not one person under 50 and the caucus vote was (I don't recall exactly) something like Obama 24, Clinton 14.

27. I think this is an issue...
I'm sorry. At the caucuses in MN last week, a lot of the kids running around hugging each other with their Obama stickers on didn't even look old enough to me to have a driver's license, let alone vote.

Many of these kids have never held a job, paid taxes or even left the comfort of their parent's homes. Their life experience is extremely limited.

It's just weird.

It's not just age, it's keeping up with what's going on in the world and a positive, hopeful attitude.
