What if David Schuster said that Obama was pimpin out his wife.
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 08:08 PM by xultar
Y'all would be hittin the roof, calling him a racist and a sexist pig.

You know it. You'd want his head and his balls on a platter with biscuits and gravy.

But because he said it about a Clinton. Y'all think it is much to do about nothing so we need to move on.

pimping out his wife>> "But because he said it about a Clinton. Y'all think it is much to do about nothing so we need to move on."

If that happened I missed it which is why I asked for a link. I could care less about the speculative what if part of it.

5. Uh, Using The Word Pimping With A Black Candidate
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 08:10 PM by lligrd
would be racist and if you can't see why, I can't help you. It was a poor choice of words in any case but I think Hillary fans have gotten all the mileage out of it that is possible.

Edited to add: I do consider the way it was used to be sexist.

Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 08:11 PM by xultar
Second people are saying that pimping is part of the hip and now talk.

So why the fuck wouldn't it be just as bad to say it about a woman candidate and her daughter regardless OF RACE.

You wouldn't say all he needed to do was apologise for being a racist so why is it o.k. to apologise for being sexist.

24. IS that the point. Something is still racist or sexist regardless of how you handle it.
So if I handle being called a nigger well then it's what? You'll believe me more, you'll believe I'm more sincere?

You must be joking.

So if a black person handles something well then it's just better for everyone.

I thought we were supposed to get angry. Not take shit, that is why Democrats got run over etc.

You can't have it both ways. Wanting a candidate to fight and then when they do you beat them down for how they handle it.

33. See, that's an example of not handling something gracefully
I meant that Obama is a better leader and has a better sense of propriety. Hillary is overreacting to this.

What Shuster said was obscene and I was one of the first people to hammer him for it. But I expect a future president to handle a situation like this a lot better than Hillary did. Once again, she seized the opportunity to play the victim and grab a news cycle.

16. I think the consensus among Obama people is that Shuster was wrong & got the right punishment
That's my read on it. There's very few DUers defending Shuster, from what I can tell. Of course I'm blocking out about 10 straight up assholes in this forum right now (about evenly split between pro-Obama and pro-Clinton disrupters), so I have no idea what the reflexively rude among us are saying. But surely you don't base your perspectives mostly on what the "squeaky wheels" say.

27. I noticed there was a pro-Shuster comment from a Clinton supporter there
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 08:25 PM by Bucky
Another one of them was blocked out. The comments were hardly endorsing what he said (save one idiot talking about the 'contemporary' and 'inoffensive' vernacular meaning when you suggest a Senator's daughter is a prostitute).

Thank you for finding what you did for me, but please don't bother with more links. Life is too short to waste on the clueless. You should go out and fight for your candidate rather than nitpick the shallowness of anonymous internet posters.

19. My problem with the outrage is the people saying "you don't talk about someone's kids"
It's not the words, which I agree were ill chosen.

It's the reaction of some who say that the children of the candidates are out of bounds.

Not when they're adults and working the campaign they're not.

It's that part of the outrage that's makin' me nuts.

I felt the same way when it was Elizabeth Edwards who was making comments, and if someone criticized her comments, there were those who reacted by saying "How dare you go after a woman with cancer!"

Michelle Obama is not out of bounds. Mary Cheney was not out of bounds. No one who chooses after their 18th birthday to enter the campaign in some capacity is out of bounds. Not the Kerry kids, nor the Bush twins.

Edwards kids, out of bounds. Obama kids, out of bounds. Chelsea in the 90's, out of bounds. That little crying girl at the Kerry rally sitting on her freeper daddy's shoulders, out of bounds.

It's not that Chelsea is the Clintons kid that made what Schuster said wrong. It would have been wrong to say of any woman working the campaign.

I'm kind of rambling here, but I hope you get my reasoning.

37. No. He made an idiotic comment and was called on the carpet
for it, and it is my understanding that he has made a public apology and has been suspended although I don't know the duration of the suspension.

I wouldn't want my biscuits and gravy tainted with your suggestion as I prefer them with scrambled eggs and grits.

I'm actually more baffled about why it never crossed anyone's mind to make such a crass and crude comment about the Bush** twins. Goddess knows that Amy Carter and Chelsea both had vile things said about them when they were very young.
