Hillary trailing badly in Maryland. Latino, white voters split
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 09:15 PM by jackson_dem
If Hillary can't rely on two-thirds Latino support and solid white support she can't offset Obama's 4:1, at minimum (7:1 in Georgia and Virginia), advantage among black voters.

Overall: Obama 52, Hillary 33
Whites: Hillary 42, Obama 40
Latinos: Hillary 48, Obama 42
Black: Obama 71, Hillary 18

In neighboring Virginia she does a bit better with Latinos, leading 60-49, but she is only tied with whites there and trails 88-12 among blacks.

1. Is it not an acceped fact, the blacks are going to vote Obama.
Most Pundits have advantaged Obama in Maryland.
Most liberal state in the union.

3. Where has he lost black support? The worst he has gotten is 78% to Hillary's 19 and Edwards' 1 in SC
He ranges from the low 80's to as high as 88, including in Virginia and Georgia.

7. The thing that would worry me most if I was Hillary
is that Obama is no longer the "black candidate". He is getting an almost equal amount of white votes, and winning the white man vote by a good margin.

8. That's really heartening to see more Latinos supporting Barack.
In California, we just didn't have the time, but time is on our side.

Yes WE can!

12. He won the Latino vote in SC and Georgia
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 10:25 PM by jackson_dem
He lost it by 40 in California, 20 in New Mexico. A lot of it can change based on the state. although nationally he trails by a large margin (in California he lost by more than the national average). One apparent trend is he seems to do best with red state Latinos.

10. Some of Hillary's advantage in California with Latino voters may have been a fluke.
There was a lot of early voting and Obama was moving up in the polls.
