Donna Brazile has INTEGRITY!
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 11:06 PM by calteacherguy
"If 795 of my colleagues decide this election, I will quit the Democratic Party. I feel very strongly about this," Donna Brazile told CNN this week. Brazile, who managed Al Gore's presidential campaign in 2000, is herself a super delegate.

Absolutely. If the Superdelgates go against the popular will of the people I will leave the Democratic Party and write in Obama's name as the nominee of the People. It would be the only honorable thing to do!

56. 1 million folks who voted for Hillary when Obama was on the ballot in Fl don't matter?
How do we win in November without Florida and Michigan? Michigan doesn't count in the vote total since no one else was on the ballot but Floridians had an opportunity to express their preference and Hillary beat Obama by 300,000 and she added about 80,000 to her margin on Super Tuesday.

61. Because the other candidates followed through on their commitments not to campaign there!
You can't change the rules in the middle of the game! Otherwise it isn't a fair contest. A do-over where everyone's on the same page would be more fair. And then these states' citizens would also have a voice in the selection process.

As others have noted, many people didn't vote who might have otherwise voted because their candidates wasn't officially part of the process, so the vote breakdown is a complete false picture of what people want from those states. If there's a choice between misrepresentation and no representation, then no representation would be better.

If there's an option to do fair representation (a later do-over) then that would be preferable to the other two options. The state parties, which royally f'd up when they put their voters' representation at risk by trying to violate the rules of the game, should make a special effort to fix this problem.

Got it?

Edit: And as much as it would pain me, if Obama were rewarded the nomination in a circumstance were Clinton had the most popular votes, I would refrain from voting in the General Election for Obama. I could not support such a process with any degree of self-respect.

Hillary wins the nom... she won't win the general and it will be an UGLY election process.

If by some chance she eeks out a win, it will mean 4 more years of devisive politics in washington getting nothing done.

Frankly, if she is the nominee, we could lose a lot of seats in congress because the repubs will be out in force. Hillary will ignite and unify the repubs in a feeding frenzy. Like it or not, and as irrational as it may be, they despise her and her husband. They will rally around and push whoever is running against her and also any other democrat who may be running...

Having the super delegates decide who represents the party AGAINST the popular vote of the people is like the politburo overriding what the people want. Being a Republic doesn't mean that we have representatives ALSO vote for us as well as do other tasks for us.

59. why should
100% of Massachusett's senator's vote for Hillary, when 100% of Massachusetts didn't vote for Hillary?

Seems out of wack.

Split them up like the delegates are split up. If there are 2 delegates, the candidate has to win 64% of the vote to get both. Otherwise they are split.

Candidates that won more than 63% of the popular vote of the state should get both senator's vote.

77. Ms. Brazile, I say, So leave, already - who's asking you to stay?
CNN might miss your Obama-groveling, but nobody will miss your whining.

Personally, on the superdelegates, I find Brazile's and Obama's "outrage" hollow, disgusting, and very revealing. Both knew the rules going in. obama's camp has blasted and mocked Clinton for wanting the delegates from MI and FL seated, using just that rationale, although it's obvious that if they had voted for him, he'd do exactly the same thing and his followers would be chanting about "democracy" all the way.

Did obama complain about the system up front, or is it (as it seems) only when he thinks the super-delegates will help her? Easy answer.

Obama is just an old-style politician in a pretty package (like the Kennedys were). Even with the media on his side, he may have trouble maintaining his facade much longer.

Otherwise, it would be a PR disaster and half our party would feel like they were cheated by the "establishment" of the party.

71. And the SDs know this collectively.
Sure, some SDs are going to be gung-ho for one candidate or the other, but for the most part the remaining ones will look around and place themselves in such a way that they don't overturn the boat. The real question is whether they will pull a Mondale-1984 where they all pile on to the candidate with a slight lead in order to make the party look really unified, or if they remain split like the electorate.

58. What the hell?!! This isn't right! So voting IS just a "going through the motions" thing, huh?
This is really bad news if they think this is going to work.

70. The will of the people. Based on the media's distortions?
Donna B. showed herself to be the Obama Shill when she helped him win SC by shouting "racism" from the rooftops.

79. And worse Brazile is threatening "trouble"... if Obama does not get the nom..
I hope she is not stirring the pot trying to instigate racial violence..as part of her threat..

That will be the quickest way for Bush to declare Martial Law and suspend elections indefinitely.

72. Too bad Donna didn't have any political SAVVY back in 2000
Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 10:40 AM by Carrieyazel
She definitely bears her share of the blame for the 2000 debacle and the Shrubbers snatching the White House away. We are still paying for it to this day.

Donna, why didn't you at least commission someone to dig up dirt on Shrub and find the hidden DUI way before November????
